It is that time of the year when I start to read about the circus that goes under the name of CSA license renewals. I have gone through the pain and frustration that this activity involves for the last two years as I felt it was the "right thing" to do.

In hindsight, I don't see what benefits I have received nor do I feel that my fees are going to the areas that I think they should. I do two road races a year - this year will be three and I don't wear my chip as I object to monopolies.

So I wonder what my race calendar will look like next year if I only ride races that are non santioned ( don't need a day license). I can't see what CSA races I will miss as that calendar has not been released.

I also wonder how many race organisers would prefer to opt out of the CSA santioned web and go it alone?

There are a few organisers I know and trust to stage races - road, mtb and stage races- and I would support them to the exclusion of the CSA events.

Hmm, I do believe you and I think very much alike. I usually do only three road races a year, the Argus, the 94.7 and the 'Shova, next year I will likely only do two (maybe none) as I refuse to be bullied into buying a license in October when I think its nothing short of disgracefully taking advantage of a market by forcing them to buy a license before they can enter the Argus

So s**ff them, I wont ride the Argus.

I have done eight or so tours and would like to do 10, but I am 53 years old, and will not be bullied like a teenager, speak to me like a gentleman, discuss why you want me to buy now and I will respond in like, but just trying to FORCE me to pay now or you cant ride - well, I will dig my heels in and not pay.

Furthermore, I am not in the habit of paying for things and getting nothing in return, that is the area of government, not the area of private commercialism and I dont accept it here.

I have purchased a license every year since they became obligatory, at the time, I and everyone else asked "What are we getting for this"?

The reply was its a new fee, give them time, you will see results, warra, warra, warra - I still see nothing that benefits me.

Now let me say, I am not against the license "per say" just the dictatorial manner in which it is enforced and that I see nothing for my money - so Yeah, this year I wont pay, and I may not race, who knows, either way, races lose my entry fee and the CSA loses my license fee, - personally I didnt think that was their aim.!
