Cycling equipment for hire

I notice most of us ride for fun and only ocasionally do races. I plan to do IM next year and hubbers recommend I get myself 50mm deep section wheels, I have no doubt other IM enthusiast are even considering investing in a full TT bike with all the bells and whistles.

 

Rather than putting up the capital to purchase all these goodies for once event, would hubbers onsider renting if someone took all the trouble to facilitating this service i.e stock piling racing wheels, full bikes for travelling bikers (local or abroad) TT bars during IM season etc. If so instead of buying a R10,000 deep section wheel set how much would anyone pay to rent them for one race weekend instead of making a full purchase.

 

Just a though, if we're comfortable with the idea of car rental, why not cycle rental?

A top spec bike costs the same as a cheap car. Avis probably rent out their cars almost every day of the year. How many days a year could you rent a bike out for?

There's also bike setup and sizing isues(crankarm, stem etc)

 

Wheels maybe.

 

Lot's of guys just get aerobars and a forward facing seatpost for IM events

Cars are registered.

 

The only way this idea could work would be if the hirer paid a deposit equal to the value of the wheels.

 

Buy a second hand pair of wheels and sell them on when you are done.

You can hire my Mavic Cosmic for R2000 per hour that you are on the bike.
