Given a choice between either spending 5k on a new fork, or 5k on a new wheelset which would be your'e first choice.

Currently have a anthem X with various parts but the fork is a tora SL solo air and the wheels are Alex DM18's which would you upgrade first and to what?

I was thinking either a rock shox revelation 120,

or shimano XT rims

Currently have a tubeless conversion on the alex rims, and I ride trails more than I do raceing but obviously weightloss is a consideration. Where would you spend your money?

also what would be interesting. if you are running a conti race king at the back, what is your wheel configuration and weight? I ask this because i know i can save 400G by buying a reba RLT or a revelation. Can i get the same type of gain on a back wheel, well i dunno I would like to find our though :) and yes this post makes no sense becuase I had too much beer today.

Tough choice, I would go wheels - Get some No tubes ZTR 355's and you'll have some money left over

I agree with the comment above.

Used to have a manitou drake and have since moved to a fox, like night and day!

Definately fork first then wheels.

Never tried a manitou, but i get all my goodies from CWC, nothing like having a good relationship with your lbs, so it will either be a Reba RLT or a Revelation. both are adjustable from 120 -100 - 80, question is which is considered the better of the two, there is only R100 diff in price. And I like the idea of having 120mm or 140mm of travel when needed.

Though I suspect 140mm might mess up the geomitry of the anthem x frame.

also i tend to take the reviews from mbr.co.uk as religion since they seem to be really on the ball, and they rated the revelation above the FOX by a mile. Anybody here have a revelation?

Get the fork, I upgraded to a reba team on my anthem kept travel at 100mm, I took my fox and put it on mt HT replacing the tora. its a different bike the fox is plush you can run it at much lower pressure than the tora and none of that squeaking when the shock is working hard

You will have a different bike by changing that fork and you can flog a tora quite easily

Ok I did get the wheels a month later AMC's

if your focus is racing short distance the you will benefit more from some lighter wheels...notubes rimms with some american classic hubs (bit more than 5k)

if you plan on ding XT rimms then the fork will be the better option i think

Yeah ill get both eventually and your right I think the fork will make the biggest difference, the wheels do drop a bit of weight but I think they are mainly there to look wicked :\

Yeah i have but almost every review i read says that since SRAM has taken over Rock Shocks the new models kick Fox's @ss though im sure fox owners differ lol. And apparently RS is easier to service than fox.

Hey Caerus, how is it going with the non smoking?

You probably have a lot extra to spend in the bike shop.

Still no smoking  Yeah all goes towards my cycling expenses - So along with my Poker winnings i'm actually up every month :)
