The front of A was quite jovial at the start.

I think it helps a lot that it's pretty much the same folks in the bunch at every race. It was certainly more fun than listening to Joffers.

And then this happened:

You guys are more flippen serious than the racing ladies

Maybe the ladies racing is just too relaxed!

Not saying that they guys should not be polite and not chat in the start blocks.

But if ladies riding in the open groups ride faster than the racing ladies, how serious were they racing?

Sooo, what is up with you guys in the open seeded bunches.

I normally race with the ladies but due to having a 5 month old little girl...am now VERY unfit. So decided to go do the 94.7 in the seeded bunches and got a start time in F bunch. ....

Maybe it's just nerves???

WW, if your avatar is a pic of you 5 months after your daughter arrived, then the guys around you were just intimidated, that's all.

Tankman...I'm not even going to get into that debate with you. All I will say is that in my opinion our girls have come a long way in the last year or two and do deserve some respect now.

Its easy for me to sit in A bunch and be pulled along by a huge group of strong men...very different to be racing.

LOL ... ja I know, it has been debated to death here!

But it happens in smaller races too, where there are not a lot of wheels to hang onto. If you have the ability to hang on at a higher intensity, surely you must be able to race at a higher intensity when racing with your own sex (as in female not ... never mind) :D

I could try explain it again to you males but you just won't get it ;)

Sorry if I didn't say hi WW.

My first excuse is, I'm an introvert, so it's not my fault I stick to my own thoughts  and excuse number 2 is basically the same as the topic of this thread; I did try to give a word of encouragement here or make a comment there but the only sounds that came out of F bunch was "Watchit!, oohh!, WOW!" when dodging water bottles or red & white straw bails.

But those are just excuses, so next time I'll be the oke saying "howsit" to everyone in the starting pen

BTW, you didn't have a BIG plaster on your left leg, did you?

Far too jovial :D

I haven't ridden a road race since 94.7 2009 and catching up was awesome. Hell - there were even riders walking up and down in front of the bunch shaking hands and hugging (you know who you were freaks  )

It was such a nice bunch we rode the whole way together...

Yeah, saw that. I was just behind Mike and Jay. Was nice to chat a bit before the start though and during the race. The one Jose Cuervo rider (don't know his name) puts his rubbish in Jay's pocket. Yeah, great bunch. We had to ride the whole way together!

That was funny! And none of the organisers realised it until most of A pointed it out!
