Does anyone know what causes hot foot. I rode the DC yesterday and at about 120kms my feet started to burn!! Unbelievably painful. At one point I was standing with my shoes on in the cooler box! I ride with speedplays and carbon specialized shoes.

If you train far (time riding) enough you don't suffer from this syndrome - your feet get use to the pressure - but probably most of us don't train far enough!!!

Try the toe strap - I got hot spots for a while back and when I released my toe strap a bit it made a world of a difference. I wear wide shoes (New Balance 2E/4E wide) and tried on a pair of Merrel's the other day. Got hot spots on my feet within 5 min. Try loosening it and see if it helps.

On the DC my feet felt fine - it was the rest of my body that was burning from the sun

cleat position.

Bender had a note about this a while ago

Yea, move you cleats further back and loosen the straps to release pressure.

I think the biggest reason for this is that most of us are not used to riding that long and our feet are not used to it. How often do you do 6hr plus rides?
