Sabie Race Organizers: Please think about it...

Hey Eldron

Are you not going to miss a mountain king if it rains?

I went through this learning curve at Sani2c. The week before Sani2c I started stressing about rain so I popped on 2 mtn kings. About 1km into my first test ride I hated them! No feedback from the trail, inconsistent grip - it really felt like I was riding on crushed marbles all the time.

Sani2c was hectially muddy and I rode the whole thing on race kings - so did my partner - no worries. The mud wasn't very thick - it was quite runny with only a few sections of thick, gloopy stuff. I think Sabie has more "gloopy" stuff...

I'll let you know 20 Dec

Mountain Kings help you squat in the Sabie mud anyway.

Batch starts.

I reckon the route is more to blame for bottle necks than the make up of the batches. Long lead outs never bottle up. Take us up over the airfield and you stand around talking *** for ages while some okes think they are "special" and push their way through.

The only day that really had bottlenecks last year was the last day where you hit that bit of Singletrack 5km in.

Prologue was great (probably because we had an early start)

Day1 was fine with a good lead out and a climb to sort the men from the boys

Day2 was a mud fest, but also had a good lead out and long tom to climb before any bottlenecks could occur

I also liked the TT on the last day. It was a fun way to end off a great week at Sabie and if you were in a hurry to catch the next plane to CT, you could still easily make the evening flight out.

Mountain Kings or Racing Ralphs on my Niner? Will be my 1st Sabie X.

You really cannot describe how much the rain you get up there changes the race. If its dry, its really dry and you'll want your racing ralphs. If its wet, its seriously muddy.

Hey big guy, done 3of them...My thoughts are to put a better tyre on the back! 1.9 kenda karmas or something to that effect.(with knobs)

Front tyre 2.4 mountain king if raining hard

The mud and rain is HECTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy to say I won't be back for another  Going to Mozam for some sun.
