Price Fixing circa 2008

Whatever happened to the so called "Price Fixing" scandal that we had in 2008. There was supposed to be a subsequent investigation as was reported in the press. Did it just drop off the radar or are the investigations still going on? Would be interesting to get some feedback from those implicated?

 

Also did the shops just go ahead and inplemented the increased markup with smaller increments?

As far as I can remember the investigation resulted in a number of fines for those involved. However most if not all of those found guilty have appealed and so we waiting patiently for that to be over with. I remember the shops involved flat out refused to pay the fines regardless, they're convinced they were doing nothing wrong.

The last I heard was that the Competition Commission had referred its recommendation of a 10% fine to the Tribuneral.

I spoke to someone who knew what was going on in october. He said that all that has really happened so far is that a whole bunch of bike stores have paid a whole bunch of lawyers a whole bunch of money.

Crikey, I struggled through those 37 pages and I can say without a doubt that it was almost like reading a soapie from M-net, actually I dont think they could have done it better.

 

I dont really concern myself with sport politics so although I had sort of "heard about it" I wasnt really aware of the nitty gritty - made interesting reading indeed.

 

These things take a long time though, the wheel turns very slowly here.
