Hi guys.

Building up a old downhill bike on the cheap just to give it a go. Want to find out what the most common gearing is for the average rider. Front chainring size and also what cassete, normal cross country type or a close ratio? I'm running a XT crank so guessing the single chainring would go on there no problem.

Thanks

Pierre

Hey PM.

I think most DH sleds have 38 or 36T single chainrings, and the SRAM PG 970 DH cassette, which is 11-26T. But there are guys running road cassettes and custom ratios. But as a start, 36T up front, and any cassette of your choice at the back will do u just fine. :)
