Spidy mmmmmmm maybe my head is a but flat but

50+75+75 = 200 for the year as a 'fun racer' no cat thing ...... 6*35 = 210

Or have I got it wrong :(

Ja Ja....ok....slooooow morning for me....and hell....it's almost afternoon!!!! <_< :P :D :D

The fee that CSA gets is R75.....the rest is for your province and your club.....no cashflow to CSA. THat was what I meant.....but yes.....besides the point.

Cashflow out of your pocket will be R210 for the year......true....makes sence.

I guess if you are not competing competitively, there is no need to register.

Probably is but I'm going to give Gavin a chance. Bit more effort needed but I'm all in for someone who is trying to help out the average cyclist. ROAG is also great - I just like the fact that Gavin is based in Gauteng and the fact that he did a superb job on building my bike

Only if you want to be a racing cat, Cat 1 (teams), Cat 2, Cat 3, THEN you have to fork out the R350.

Savy?

Spinny - I understand Cat 1, but would I need to buy a racing license to ride on the other Cats?

This is what their site says:

"A racing license allows a rider to represent South Africa and participate in UCI sanctioned events. SA Championship events and SA Colors require a racing license. CSA points will only be given to riders a with full racing license. "

I don't want to accumulate points or anything, but would I be able to ride in the other Cats with a normal license? Previously you could ride VA etc without a full racing license...

Cat 1-4 requires FULL racing license.

A,B,C etc. will be normal membership.

Cat 1 is reserved for TEAMS only! The rest will be Cat2-4 according to ability.

Now.

Mission will be for the Cat 2 riders to catch the Cat 1 race because they toss around on team orders...... :D

Does anyone still have that description of each of the categories (Cat 2- 4) so that I can see if it's worth my while to have a full racing license?

Hey,

My understanding is Cat 1 are the pro's, Cat 2 are licenced ladies and Vet superteams and cat 3 and 4 are seeded riders with a full racing license.

You can still ride league without a full license. Everyone must be a CSA member.

You will not be able to do SA's, provincials (like WP champs) or UCI sanctioned races without a full racing license.

I've seen the details on the Hub. I did a search and couldn't find it. Anyone have the link?

Laaities van vandag......

The rules are quite simple...

  1. Only registered Top Club teams are allowed in category 1 (Men - Elite, U23, Junior and Vet30-39).
    - Medscheme, MTN, CycleLab, TCS, Black Rock are teams already registered.
Each team member will be issued with a permanent number for the year.
Teams enter online like normal, but the entries have to be approved by CSA prior to the event - this is to ensure they stick to the rules.
If there are less than 50 entrants, the category will be cancelled and they ride in Cat2 and seeded accordingly.
Teams must have a manager, complete the various applications, etc.
This is for the SERIOUS / Professional riders.

  2. Category 2, 3 and 4 is for any Full Licence holder, irrespective of age and gender and each rider will be seeded according to ability. Individual only - not teams.
The seeding will work on the CycleLab seeding ladder for the first 3 months, and then reseeding takes place after the first 3 months results.
The Top Club teams for Ladies (Elite, Junior, Vet all ages) will be placed in Cat2 or Cat3 depending on their seeding for the relevant race - the only teams in Cat2/3.
Organisers may, at their discretion, can make the Cat4 for Vet50+ and Vet ladies (not Top Club teams) and anyone not qualifying for Cat2 & Cat3.
If there are only 300 riders in Cat2-4, then 150+150 means only Cat2 and Cat3.
If there are only 200 riders, then CSA might enforce 1 bunch of 200, or 2 bunches of 100.
Max 150-200 riders per category up to Cat4, meaning 600 Full Licenced cyclists in Cat2, 3 and 4 - anyone seeding outside the top 600 will be seeded in the Open category.

  3. 4 Commissaires (1 per group), timekeeper, line judges and a chief comm - that's all from a race official point of view.
Complaints to be directed to the CSA Officials by team managers only, not to the organiser and not from a rider.

  4. After the 4 Licensed categories, it will be Tandems and Open Seeded

What else would you like to know??

Being part of the race organising committee, I've met with CSA officials to get a clearer understanding of the rules - they just need to communicate with it's members.

There should be a final draft releases this week (or so it was said at the meeting last week).

CSA are bringing the Licensed categories in line with UCI regulations (or they will be trying to), hence the change.

I rode VA before and paid my full license fee, and got seeded in VA/ VB. But some of my race I got seeded in A. Open seeded license is R75. Full license is R350 Cat1-4. My question is what happens to a full license Cat 4 rider that did not make the seeding for the next race? Will he be seeded in A or B ?
