Great work! ;)

So we have learnt to trust our guts...and a friendly question never hurt anyone.

I wonder if they found the origional owner...would he be able to buy his bike back from the current owner for R300???

Or will the police just hand it to him!? (which would not be fair to the current owner)

It is illegal to buy stolen property. You cant tell me that you buy a bike for R300 and dont know that it is stolen. The guy is lucky he doesn't get charged. They are fuelling the fire by providing a market for the thieves.

I dont think that guy knew he had bought a stolen bike. I don't think he would have cycled around the area on a stolen bike and think he would get away with it.

Now that it's been recovered, is it technically still stolen?

I will buy it for R1000 and donate the money to SAPS find a bike campaign......

Hats off for having the balls to do something about a situation you knew was wrong.

I drive past a informal settlement everyday and see things that would make your eyes pop out, but you can see when a bike is earned, it is well locked after where as bike that they got free(given or stolen) is in bad condition.

No true because when I was looking for my first MTB 2,5yrs ago, I thought I could get something for R800 as I always compared to advertised specials I saw from GAME. This is the problem with stolen goods, the buyer may not always be educated on its true value.
