Ok, so I figured it was time to get me one of these.

Dont want to pay too much as my level of MTB ability and fitness doesnt warrant an expensive model at the moment. Basically need one that gives different zones and heart rate, thats all. Need one that has a bike mount

I Like the Polar CS300 (with bike mount) Obviously it doubles as a cycling computer too. Think that paying R1000 for a 2nd hand one isnt too bad

Saw the Sigma PC15 on CWC but they are out of stock at the moment. Looks like quite a decent watch as well and well priced at under R500-00

Which one would you have chosen? At this stage I'm leaning more towards the Sigma

Thanks Chris, basically what I was thinking as well.....PLUS a low-key HRM would be easier to sneak past Missus Goverment.. :D

I have had a very basic Polar CS 100 for 4 years. It has been returned to Polar twice. Once due to water getting into the unit and a second time because the locking mech that locks it onto the bike mount broke. Both times the unit was repaired FREE OF CHARGE except for postage. Consider back up when you buy a thing like that.

That was my situation a year ago when I bought mine. On the plus side its easy to sell it for nearly what one paid but then again having a cheap HRM is so handy once you start getting the Missus involved

Hi RudoJ

I can't vouch for the Sigma but in my opinion... Go for the Polar. I have a CS200, paid unfortunately a fortune for it because I was itching to buy one and did not do my homework well. Now I am regretting not waiting for the CS300. I could not find a CS300 at that time.

There is not much difference between the CS200 and CS300 but I think the watch part of the CS300 is making it the better choice.

If you are a Vitality member, the Polar is definitaly the one. You get points for all your practice sessions, increasing your vitality status.

My LBS is selling the CS300 brand new for R1795. In my opinion... That is really a good price.

Hmmm....Thanks Burts, I think you get discount as well when buying a Polar if you're on Vitality? I will keep what you said into consideration as well.
