FML...

Group CRC order went a bit south through no-one's fault. Looked last night at getting an order together - [XTC1, haven't forgotten you, will keep you in the loop] - seatpost is out of stock until 23 March... :cursing:

At risk of having a conversation with myself  ... some good news at last!

CRC came through, and informed me last night that the seatpost stock was back in... Which is decidedly better than having to wait until the 23rd of March!

Threw in a few extras... :D

So the SS will now have the following:

Handle bar [On-One Mary]

Stem [KCNC]

Brake levers [Avid Speed Dial 7]

Brakes [XT v-brakes]

Headset [HOPE]

Fork [Fox F80 RL]

Frame [DBR Axis TT]

Post [Thomson Inline Elite]

Saddle [brooks B17 Special]

Crankset [shimano Deore M542 - new, blades still to be removed]

Wheelset [shimano old-skool Parrallax... which are crying out for my 1st ghetto conversion!]

Tensioner [DMR STS]

Can't wait...

Order dispatched from CRC on 10/03/2011 via Parcelforce, picked it up this morning! :D

Seatpost and headset now here - just have to pick up the pedals from a fellow Hubber, hopefully this afternoon, and it's golden nappies time!

Promise to start putting up pics when I have everything together... Will also be building the other bike up, so going to be a few fun-filled days!

You really are stringing us along here fella.

And if you don't use those Brooks grips, then all the loss to you!

Getting ridiculous, I know....

Think maybe I'll just shut-up now until it's built, and yet (feelings of self-importance set aside for a moment :P ), kind of figure there might be a few Hubbers who would be interested in following a build? :) Will play it by ear...

As for the Brooks grips... tough one... They might get added later, but I'm not sold on how they might look in relation to the rest of the bike... Proof will be in the pudding I guess!

Sudden thought just occurred to me - I've been inadvertently hyping this build now. Starting to feel the heat... :D

Please excuse this blatant and pointless self-indulgence... But I'm just getting so excited for the build of the new SS, that I can hardly help myself... Putting it out here will almost make it feel real, and placate me for a bit longer... :)

I don't know what you've been doing with your time Rod but PLEASE JUST BUILD THIS BLASTED BIKE AND POST SOME PICS FOR GOODNESS SAKE!

I get the feeling I'm in more of a hurry to get this bike completed than you are!

I kid you not - I was sabotaged by a well-meaning but ultimately misguided mate... Without going in to details, all is finally back on track.... That, and the not-so-insignificant matter of a 3 month old boy, has been keeping me rather busy! :)

I'll shut up now - here be some pics, if all goes well with the tubeless conversion, I should be up and running in next week... Can't wait - almost there....

Nicely. What wheels did you settle on in the end?

Fanks!

Running my old (but reliable) Shimano Parrallax - converted to tubeless. When I finally take the plunge on upgrading to disc on the other frame - I'll simply move the Cane Creeks over to the SS.

And it's done!

Big thanks to the gents at Mason's, who helped me along oh-so-nicely!

Took her for a quick spin - me thinking I'm going to be having some serious fun on this frame :D .... Granted, have yet to hit a serious hill, which will probably see me re-assess my fitness levels.

Which is a good thing.

Mary bar makes for quite an upright position, but I'm liking it... Novelty might wear off, but will pop up some thoughts when I've put down a few kilos...

Will put up complete pics when I can take some decent shots - but here's the business side of things...

Went with the softy option of 32t for starters... 16t at the back, but will give it a few weeks before making my decision on either a 36t, or maybe even the 38t...

I think the bike looks great, let us know what you think of the Mary bars, I was looking at them this evening and wondering......

BTW I think the Brooks grips would have matched the bike well, but leather, I don't know, fine for posing, but for riding, I feel it could get a bit tough on the hands after a few hours in the saddle.

I've gone to a 36 blade, but only because I sometimes run 1x9 when I'm feeling weak. With the 32 you have a much wider range of usable rear cogs available, for those of us without super-normal leg strength. When the riding gets a bit mountainous, its a bit difficult to find a 23/24 cog, I've taken an angle grinder to an 8 speed cluster for the cogs.
