Crank review/advice: Aerozine X12 SL A3

I need to upgrade my cranks and it is between the KCNZ K Type (800g), Truvative Carbon Noir (785g) and the Aerozine X12 (750g). All stated weights are including BB.

Now, has only ever owned an Aerozine crank? I need a no nonsense view on quality and durability.

Hmmm... maybe a bottom bracket issue?

The reviews on mtbr seem to be very good. I have also heard that they are a little on the soft side

Not the bottom bracket. I had it on a 2010 Epic and it really did suck. The first one I got was not even true. I got it from CWC and it was wonky. He got me a new one and I was still not impressed at all. I then changed to XTR and it made a big difference. Maybe they have sorted it out by now but I doubt it. It seems to be very soft. On my 29er I have a Truvative 3X10 Carbon crank and it is sweet. No flex just takes the job in its stride. The carbon does scratch easily though. Let us know what you go for and what you think of it.

I've actually used all three...hated the Aerozine (flexed like crazy) Happy with the Truvativ, but loved the KCNC - had the double blade and absolutely loved it! - Still regret selling it :(

I have the Aerozine SL A3 and find nothing wrong with it, in fact I recommend it. The ceramic bearing is tops and outlasts Shimano 3 times. It does not have the wow factor though, but at ± the same price as XT its a steal! Replacement chainrings is also less than 1/2 of XT. Go for it!

They're not flexy if you ride like a girl. Otherwise not. Saw a broken one at the shop, didn't really impress me as I buy components to last.

I've had a very bad experience with Aerozine - stay well clear - poor design. Male and female toothed section where left crank arm fit onto shaft does not match. So after time, (after 4 months of light riding for me) play started developing at the left arm and it couldn't be tightened onto the tapered spline anymore, because there's a ridge or shoulder.

The importers did give me replacement arms. They questioned why I took the crank off once a month, but the BB was of such poor quality with no seals, just a plastic side cover, so I had to take the crank off to service the BB and one time was to put my old crank back - a Truvativ Stylo Team, which is a similar splined design, but never gave issues taking it off.

See the pics... the chainrings clearly show how little this crank was used.

I know another good rider who's used his without problems, but mine really was a poor crank.

I'm now on a XT crank simply because it's so easy to take off, and for 860g the price is right.

Aeriozine are for light riders those cranks tend to flex.

Had one and to test and didnt like it at all, they look great but performance isn't all that wonderful.

Settled on LX crank ( Blades are easier (Cheaper) to replace but agree with XT being great quality
