Stick to decent purpose made bike chain cleaners and lubes.

PARK TOOLS eco friendly lemon smelling chain cleaner works a treat especialy if u use the clam shell type cleaner.

FINISH LINE chain lube one of the best lubes, if you use a good quality dry lube the chain remains cleaner for longer (Dust and *** durrent stick)

Diesel is for tractors n bakkies and cars that want to sound like tractor

I have used Cleangreen, petrol and turpentine. I must admit that out of all of them i prefer turpentine. What I do is the dirty turps I throw back into the bottle and let it stand. All the dirt goes to the bottom and I can use it again. I have used a bottle of turps about 5 times without any hassles. After that i just give the bottle to the guy that works in our garden and he uses it to do whatever....

The cleaning tools that I use is the clam shell type cleaner and also an old toothbrush and a paint brush. Works like a charm. Thumbs%20Up

I have been using just paraffin to clean my chain, with the aid of a clam chain cleaning tool and a long bristle brush. Thereafter wash it well down with Clean Green and rinse. Once dry then I lubbe with Squirt and then again the next day.

Works for me!!!!
