Hi,

I'm a first time buyer and looking at buying a KHS Crest 2001 model for R2500. The bike seems to be in good condition; I've checked the

wheels and bearings. New tires and relatively new brakes. Online the bike used to get great reviews.

Now, there seems to be a problem with the gear shift - the seller is getting that fixed, and the front shocks are not lockable and not adjustable.

Would any of you recommended buying an old bike that seems in good condition?

Basically, should I look at this old bike for R2500 or a new Silverback Stride / Raleigh NOMAD EIGHTY, that have the

basic bells and whistles + warranties ect, for the same price.

Thank you so much for your time and help,

Rudolf

EDIT: I'll be doing some basic trail riding - no jumping or going down mountains at speed - and maybe some on road use aswell.

2 posts, 2 pieces of advice. :)

I just bought the Silverback - On special for R2000 at Kayalami cycles in Alberton VS the R2500 at other shops around jhb.

Thanks for the replies guys!
