So, racing at the Tour de Medallion yesterday, I won the uphill sprint on the R44.Crossed the line a few seconds before the other sprinters. 4 of them. As we approach the RaceTec timing mats, I notice the other finishers slack off behind to allow me to cross first. Like yielding.Very thoughtful and cool. Then, in a final burst, a rider swoops in front of me to cross the timing mat first.He was clearly positioned behind me as we approached the final segment. Hmmm...I seek not to be negative and inside I did think "you idiot sucka fool". What Would You Think?

So the guy who pushed in front of you could not have been in your batch ?
NeverEnder Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 You always get the timing mat jumpers. Normally only frowned upon with a shake of the head. And maybe a little comment just hard enough for the offender to be aware of his chomp status. But since we all got the same time it was not a big deal. (If you not podium that is) But now with the points system in the league its a big No No. One guy took a change in one of the earlier races and got a big earful - Must say in the last couple of races and with the medallion the guys actually made an effort to keep their positions after crossing the line. Luckily you know he only gained 1 position, virtually no time & a bad rep.

Again as per my post above, the guy who pushed in front of him, could not have been in the same group. Sure he was a chop but had no affect on G's place or time in his group.
American Flyers Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 The position of timing mats are in wrong place.... They should put it where the finish is....They can do it..... Maybe they are lazy or they don't want to fork out more money to do it properly...

I know, headhunter...They broke away ahead of me after we broke away from the I starting bunch from Hels.Then, I was in a bunch with G and H riders, mostly. I ask about etiquette when a rider wins a bunch sprint and other riders afford the courtesy of that rider crossing the mats first. (smile)
