Week before Argus MTB race

What's the general take on training intensity 1 week prior to an event. Been hammering it for 7 weeks.

I would say that if you seriously hammered it rest is now what your body needs.

I am taking today and tomorrow off, will do a tempo ride on Wednesday, 8x30sec sprints on Thursday, rest or very easy on Friday. On Saturday I'm doing the 13k race with my boy, should be adequate as a pre-race "losmakerjie".

The last week is always a tapering week. Any riding being done this week is only to turn the legs over. Therefore shorten distances and lessen intensity. You have to get some rest in your legs.
