  1. For me its more a fun and time factor, i can get home late from work jump on my bike and go for a lekka 90 min shred on the mountain, and still be home to help with dinner and the kids. I can also go for a much longer ride on the weekends and do more fun riding and not be so stuffed afterwards. I also think there is a massive misconception that you cant ride hard or get fit on an Ebike, that's absolute nonsense. In actual fact, if you ride it correctly you can do more targeted training and ride at you desired avg/pk hear rates.
  2. ....on a couch?
  3. Helderberg Cycles, Somerset West
  4. EMTB's are here and here to stay, so lets see them all. My new toy, 2020 Specialized Levo Comp.
  5. Have used Jeroen a couple of times, very good but just a bit pricey.
  6. Hi guys, Been searching the forum for some direction, but cant really find any info. Looking for a good bike fit, have an easy medial knee problem to sort out but need a professionals help. Recommendations please - i'm based in Cape Town CBD? Thanks,

Thanks Mayhem, they didn't have stock of the Maxxis so went with your suggestion, both 2.6 and Grid. Black diamond not in stock.

    New Tires

Hi all, Question you have all heard before, but.... My Nobby Nics are done on my Ibis Ripley and i want to replace them with better performing tires The NN is not great over loose/loose over hard, so want something griper but don't want to increase rolling resistance or weight. What you guys think about a Maxxis DHF 2.5 Mountain on the front and a Maxxis Ardent 2.4 on the rear. Or what other recommendations. I ride trails like Tygerberg trails/Tokai/Table Mountain/Signal Hill etc. Thanks.
  11. i didn't take the ibis rims, on 29 internal width.
  12. Ja, beautiful bike. You can certainly get caught up with the short travel/long travel madness.
  13. I took the 2.6 NN off and got a 2.35NN in front and a 2.25 NN at the back. Not convinced with the traction on loose gravel type stuff and traction in the wet. I do think the handling is better with the bigger NN, but this thing climbs like a rocket with the thinner tires.
  14. Anyone have one? What's the feedback?
  15. After lots of discussion, soul searching, more reading, more discussion, i have adjusted my previous list. I am now looking at: SC Tallboy 3 Ibis Ripley LS Evil Following MB I think the Hightower is a bit too much travel for me, but looks like an amazing bike. Now to find people that will let me ride their bikes......
  16. Oh no, another option in the mix. Not good!
  17. Are you currently on a TB? From what I've read the TB is a better all round bike verse the Following MB. Been spending a lot of time reading these, great reviews. The other option is the Ibis Ripley, but i think from a support perspective SC is the better brand in SA. https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/biking/best-trail-mountain-bike Don't do races, not my vibe, enjoy just riding and chilling!
  18. Thanks Pikey, appreciate the feedback. I always new the TB would be the better climber, I guess it’s the downs that has me more interested in the longer travel. More confidence to go faster and take a few more tough lines. Interesting to hear that the TB handles the technical stuff well. What did you run on the TB upfront?
  19. Hey all, Struggling with myself to decide which is the bike for me. I’m currently on a TB 1 and it’s time for an upgrade. My TB has 100mm rear and 120mm front and I think I want more. I don’t particularly climb well but seem to spend a lot of time climbing hills, I live on the base of Table Mountain, so spend a lot of time on the slopes and enjoy the single track on Lions Head, Pats Track and the Signal Hill trails. Also dig Tokai (not the DH stuff), Hoogekraal and Jonkershoek. New TB is 110mm and the HT is 135mm, trying to organise a demo to get a feel, but would really like some feedback from you guys on the 2 bikes. I’m looking to buy a frame as I have most of the parts for a build, including a Pike. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. The reality is, that it's still only a 100mm travel bike. I don't see the benefit of going 140 in the front. Even with lowering the front, and pushing the saddle forward, the geometry is wrong.
  21. I put a monarch RT3 on the back and a 140mm Pike set to 120mm on the front. Has made a huge difference to the way the bike handles and performs. Very very happy with the change. The other positive change is I put a 2.25 Onza Ibex on the front. A 2.4 would have been better, next time tho. Great tire.
