  1. And once you're back from Nigeria, pop by PTA please
  2. That is definately an April Fooler. Souff Effrikans just looooove to bitch and moan. I tried to comment on the page but for some or the other reason it was not posted. Guess they want to milk it for the rest of the day. Had the same issue...guess they don't like people that are awake too early in the morning. I almost had a heart attack when I read the subject...going for my first ride there on Sat(should be nice and muddy) so it would have killed me if they were closing so soon after!
  3. I would venture a guess that the average Taiwanese is not that poor. By all appearances, eastern (as in Chinese, Japanese etc.) nationalities seem to eat any animal, or parts of an animal (some as delicacy) if available. Anyone else notice that abelone was also on the menu. It's no wonder abelone is being poached to extinction in SA.
  4. Congratulations. People born on the 15th of March rock!
  5. Almost forgot to say: Well said cat-i!
  6. And a smile ... a bit of friendliness and interest in the customer never hurts.
  7. Ouch Canaris, you cut me deep man, you cut me deep I'm still a rank beginner. Started riding end of last year when the wife decided she wanted to do the Argus - wasn't going to let her do it alone! So, been training for the Argus & haven't even been off-road with my bike yet :-( Once the Argus is done & dusted I will pop over to Groenies for an inaugural ride. Anyone feel like breaking in a new MTB'er? Anyway, to answer the question...I haven't moved to tubeless yet, no. :-( DesertConvert2010-03-05 08:32:07
  8. Can well be. I wouldn't blame them!
  9. I didn't but I do now Will keep that in mind for the next purchase I need to make. I had my LBS fill them when I bought the bike.
  10. Excellent, thanks! That will save me a bit if I don't have to add slime to new tubes. I don't feel like repairing possible punctures, though starting from OB group I think the majority of nails, thorns & other sharp objects will have been cleaned up by the riders before me
  11. Beginners question I ride a mountain bike with 26 x 1.95 tyre size. I have just bought a set of 26 x 1.5 slicks to ride the Argus on. Can I use the same tubes (which I suspect I can't) or do I need to fit another size tube. I haven't quite figured out the dimensioning yet. Thanks.
  12. zoonie, I would join you, but I'm in PTA :-( So just know you are not alone at 5am ;-)
  13. little1, I thank you for your efforts! Litter is an ever-growing issue. Maybe it's always been bad, but at least it used to be cleaned up. That is beside the point though. Littering is filthy, and to that organisers lame excuse, "creating jobs": if you're not part of the solution(keeping your environment tidy) you're part of the problem. I bet she would be the first to complain about the potholes on the roads not realising that her gel packet clogs up the drainage, creating pools on the road, accelerating the development of potholes. Anyway, as a person of such "importance" she should be shamed. We need to hold those that are in positions of responsibility accountable for their actions! They may not forget that they have a responsibility towards those that they are serving.
  14. These put my mind at ease... Think I'll go for the tourist ride this year...
  15. Or a taxi hooter ... watch people jump then...!
  16. Still no reason to be rude. As long as the guy in front of you is not swerving drunkenly across the road (and by swerving I don't mean gently moving over by 30cm to avoid a pothole or whatever) he has the right to be where he is. If faster groups end up tangling with slower groups on a route, it is the fault of the organisers...take it up with them. Keeping left should be a standard in any race. Maybe organisers should create dedicated "lanes" for the faster riders? Either way...as a non-competitive rider I will attempt to be considerate where at all possible, which means I will try stay out of your way. I will NEVER move if you are abusive...I may just "wander" even more into your path out of "shock".
  17. Check out http://www.imbikemag.com. Awesome online magazine with skills videos etc. Requires fairly decent bandwidth though, so it may take a while for the videos to load.
  18. Thanks for the warning. I'll now be prepared for any rudeness encountered on the road. I suppose a glare and a quick finger should sort it out...
  19. "But mom...I've always wanted to do that. The other guys always look so cool when they cross the line at the finish with their hand in the air!"
  20. But then you wouldn't be able to buy all those nice goodies for your bike...
  21. "And there's no dog house for this plentiful pooch' date=' who consumes about 110 pounds (50 kg) of food each month. Owner Dave Nasser says George sleeps on his own queen-sized bed inside the house." [/quote'] I suppose a queen sized bed is cheaper and less a hassle than getting municipal approval for a new car(dog)port.
  22. Excellent. Thanks for the help!
