  1. CRC only gave me one courier option which was 140 pounds. It said shipping is 10 to 12 days. Originally it looked like FedEx due to the tracking link they sent me but I think it's regular ol snail mail that ends up with SAPO as edge said.
  2. 4 weeks later... still no bike.
  3. Only have good things to say about the service from Warren (even though I was being a pain in the ass changing my mind)
  4. Shame I hope the big guy is OK. Seemed like a proper back injury and the paramedics didn't take any chances. He must have been laying there for an hour before they arrived. The bike park should have a SOP for this type of thing. Many broken bones there in the last few months. He seemed to be on the wrong trail judging by the long stem xc bike and must have gone off the big drop off without the required technique.. If the other riders didn't find him and stop me I would have landed on him as I was 2 min behind.
  5. Looks like you are correct. I used https://parcelsapp.com/en to track it and lo and behold good old SAPO appeared. I just hope the bike appears in one piece now.
  6. Surprisingly not. DHL didn't ask for any money.
  7. Interesting. I just bought a bike and a spare part (tiny). The shipping price was the same with or without the spare part (120 pounds). The spare part arrived via DHL in 7 days and the bike is somewhere in the Netherlands still by the looks of things with FedEX. The tracking is poor compared to DHL and I hope it isn't this free shipping you speak of as it was expensive. I hope its just the holiday.
  8. I don't want to be that e-bikes sucks guy (they have their place) but putting slicks on the thing, meeting somewhere half way with a battery and R30k range extenders sounds daft. I'm hardly the fittest and I don't struggle on a second hand R5k road bike.
  9. Ordered today (random picture off the web). Should be here early January.
  10. thank you!
  11. Can someone please check my maths? Looking to buy a Ragley Big Al from CRC that is on special for 999 pounds. Item price in rands with shipping 24396 Duties on item price with shipping (15%) 3660 10% on Item with shipping 2439 VAT on Item with shipping & 10% 4025,25 10% on duties 366 VAT on duties & 10% 603,9 35490,15
  12. Perfect for the ebikers.
  13. Chaps... looking for advice as I still haven't purchased a hardtail. I'm going away in about 2 weeks so want to have the new bike before holiday. I've been looking for new and used for over 2 months and there is sweet fookal so looks like I need to buy new and customize. Budget ideally 30k. Option 1. https://www.merida-bikes.com/en/bike/archive/2013/bigtrail-400 Merida Big Trail 400 but upgraded from day one with a RS Revelation / Marz Z2 and Deore 4 pot brakes, tubeless tyres. Should be doable for under R30k. Base price R18.5k. Pro's: Nice frame. Much better brakes and fork after upgrade Con's: Older 1x10 drivetrain. Wheels look good on paper but I think the other option is better. Option 2. https://www.trekbikes.com/za/en_ZA/bikes/mountain-bikes/trail-mountain-bikes/roscoe/roscoe-7/p/35116/ Fresh of the ship Trek Roscoe 7. No upgrades. R30k Pro's: Ridable out the box without upgrade. New Deore 1x12 drivetrain. Trek probably more sought after and better for a long term bike? Con's: Stock fork is ok but 32mm stanchions at 140mm is a bit noodley (RS Recon). Brakes are known to be poor. Overall my feeling is the Merida will be better component wise for the same money but the Trek will probably hold it's value better (Upgrades to bikes don't really hold their value and Trek is more sought after?)
  14. I went there a few weeks ago and it all looked shut. Their Google or Facebook profile (can't remember) made it appear like they were open. The car guards insisted I can still ride there along with some kids already there. Impressions: The main jump line(s) looked like they hadn't been maintained in 6 months or badly built. Like huge ruts in the line, landing and jumps needed resurfacing. The dj line didn't have a great flow but a good reshape will do the trick. Could be small but fun. Warning: The long flow line down the mountain begs for jumps but they are built too close to each other so if you try jump you will land to flat. I think the target is more towards beginners / kids compared to the likes of Hellsend which is absolutely good and well. Just a heads up. Overall maybe something happened between when the park was announced and now? Some issues for sure but it will be fun for kids and perhaps more with some TLC (maybe already done?)
  15. I hope this is a long holiday. There is much to see.
  16. Sorry can't help but how is this fork? I'm looking at a 2023 Trek Roscoe 7 that comes with one (140mm). I know its not going to be a Pike but I'm hoping its not complete garbage.

  18. UCT jumps? They are decent and I think could some love.
  19. thank you. I don't love long pedals on the Enduro bike (downhill tyres suck up hills). I'm on the waiting list for a Roscoe so hopefully it comes soon. Otherwise I will just take my jump bike
  20. I'm also heading there. Is it worth taking an Enduro bike?
  21. Hey. I'm in Edgemead and ride once or twice a week. Usually Bloemendal but also ride the other places.
  22. Unless you can transition to something with a local presence cheaply, I'd recommend keeping it, and maybe next time when buying consider this factor. Even local bikes are not immune to this and with the standards changing all the time the sheer volume of spares for suppliers to stock is astounding. Example 1: Giant STP: Good luck finding a good 26-inch rim or a straight steerer fork. Example 2: Giant Trance from a few years ago: 27.5 stuff is still around but becoming harder to find (tyres, rim). Same with boost, etc. End of the day there is planned obsolescence and if you want stuff always available locally, plan to buy new every 3 or 4 years. Buying locally available stuff does help but it doesn't mean you are sorted forever.
  23. Howzit guys. How are the Muna bikes? I am looking for the 16-inch Sparkle for my 3.5-year-old. https://bike-addict.co.za/products/muna-sparkle-16-girls-2021?_pos=12&_sid=7a28f23f6&_ss=r She is very tall and easily fits the bike even though she is younger than the recommended age. She actually sat on the bike in the store and started riding it around which must be a good sign. She has mastered a balance bike and it's time to get used to the pedals. How is the brand? Not a Makro special? Looking for something solid (not too heavy or cheaply built) but I also don't think she will benefit from a fancy brand quite yet. I am sure that day is coming. I am going to have to build a bigger garage. I've looked 2nd hand and most bikes look like they were left outside for their entire lives so probably going new.
  24. OT: How are people doing on that jump? I've been eyeing it out but I've been riding with friends who are newer to the sport so I haven't got a chance to get a tow-in. It looks and 'feels' like I will just glide over it.
