  1. Good luck and enjoy!
  2. Easy way to mow ahead of the weekend's cricket game
  3. Here you go: http://www.kiwivelo.co.nz/garmin-edge-1000-speed-sensor.html
  4. It's not the device that's problematic, it is being in a forest where there isn't a clear view of the sky. Get a speed sensor and your troubles are over - get the one that fits on the hub of your wheel, I put it on the back wheel so it annoys the dude behind rather than annoying me. You'll have the same issues with most Garmins (Garmen?). Certainly the case with an 810 and my wife's 1000.
  5. Must have been a good ad as I even remember the name of the bike, Nishiki NFS Altron. WHo would have thought a ladyboy triathlete was a good way to advertise a bicycle.
  6. Ha ha I remember that ad, from the early-mid-1990s.
  7. They also have access to methods and products that certain amateurs can only dream of.
  8. Shoot that looks like fun. Good thing with MTB, I find, is that after about 3 or 4 rides the skillz come back...need a good solid 3 weeks of pain and suffering for the fitness to come back though. Keep at it!
  9. Meanwhile, in New Zealand... http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/86690614/nelson-knicker-nicker-nabbed-by-police-after-twomonth-burglary-spree
  10. Poor bastards down in Kaikoura and surrounds, and Wellington, now getting flooded. Pretty harsh.
  11. Jeez that's a proper stuff up. Relieved that casualties are minimal, although that is scant comfort to the families of the 2 confirmed dead. Stay safe folks.
  12. If anyone here is interested in holidaying in Whakatane this December (from 20 Dec - 2 Jan) our house will be available to rent. Why would you holiday in Whaka? - nice beaches - several pristine lakes nearby - excellent road and MTB cycling opportunities, with nearest trail starting about 2km from my front door - Rotorua is about 80km away - outstanding local walks/hikes - White Island tours (active marine volcano) - Plenty of charter fishing operators to catch a few, well, fish in the sea - you can mangere off the bridge into the river - you can get a 'Whaka-tastic' T-shirt to show off to your friends. PM me if interested.
  13. Thanks man. The green one is no longer valid, but I will keep it as a relic to show my boys when they are older...
  14. You're going to be absolutely stuffed after that 'short trip' Blaze!
  15. Bit of a humblebrag but look what I have in my hot little hands (and have had for a wee while):
  16. Remember, kids, when taking drugs, there is no effect without side effect. I'll stick to being healthy and pedaling hard if I come last, lekke I did it on my ace.
  17. Cloth, toilet, hot water, you'll be fine. Dignity need not apply.
  18. Kransie, I wish you the very best and I hope you enjoy your time immensely here in Gods Own Country. Make sure to get to Rotorua and the Redwoods...actually, this us a big place with lots of small hobbits, so just enjoy it all and have fun EDITED cause I am on the rooiwyn, Australian one too, Penfolds, very naaice.
  19. On 'the grass isn't always greener', my Mrs just showed me a FB post of some chic in Auckland who's parents' boat trailer was nicked out of Half Moon Bay parking lot. I've always been kek bang that that happens up in Northland, you can imagine how inconvenient it would be to get back from an overnighter to discover some feral's made off with the bloody trailer! Best pay the local Maori their 'koha', whack a pinlock on it and hope for the best...
  20. 15 Kiwikaners just poeped themselves.
  21. Probably the Heaphy Track, Kranswurm. I've not been to Nelson, there's a good chance you'll get there before me.
  22. That's bad news. it is already expensive for Safas to come here, that just got more so and also more complicated. This is something I was fearful about in 2009 already, that as demand for places in 'desirable' countries increases, the gates will start closing. NZ is experiencing record immigration at present, with most coming from the UK and the East, along with a healthy smattering of Safas, and the place is getting 'full'. There is plenty of noise about the need to close the tap and I reckon the visa requirement is a step towards that, notwithstanding the putative reasons of false documents (though anyone who knows how easy it is to get an 'official' SA passport must surely recognise that other countries are obliged to step up their defences). That said, Safas are generally welcomed, certainly more so than those from the East or other countries where the culture and demographics differ from those of a post-colonial country with similar cultures. But IMO, time is running out for an easy move and it will not only get harder but also more expensive.
  23. Maybe you should send me a PM, I have a lot of friends in kiwifruit and berries (and a few dairy farmers), might be able to help connect you.
  24. Oh and...points to whoever can explain how to pronounce Patumahoe.
