  1. Was assured that the kit I had originally gotten was the 32mm kit and that you can't get a 28mm kit anymore even though it was the 28mm kit... I went to BMG to get the orings there and they had to order some of them which I am still waiting for. I eventually just got over it cause I wanted to ride my bike again so just decided to put it back together and test it out. I checked the orings like Johan suggested and all of them seemed to be fine as far as I could tell. I could maybe try a different shop to see if they can order the correct kit for when I service it again. At least I now know its not such a hard job and will probably only take a few hours when I do it again - now that I have all of the tools, oil etc as well as the experience! Thanks for all of your help!
  2. Finished servicing my fork. I couldn't get the 32mm kit so I just ended up cleaning everything and putting it back together. I am monitoring whether or not there is oil leaking out the bottom due to my crush washers and think there might be a slow leak so will keep an eye on it.
  3. How well would this scale work? http://www.mellerware.co.za/pages/our-products/bodymax-health-scale-179.php Its about R200
  4. What is the route like? I'm also looking for a way to commute to Brackenfell from Pinelands so will just do the route out in the mornings...
  5. OK, well this is just an update. I set about servicing my fork today and took the damper apart. Turns out the bike shop ordered the wrong o-ring kit - Its for the 28mm older sids.. Will take it back and either get a new one or just do as Johan suggested - Buy the o-rings from BMG. I took the air side apart as well and have cleaned everything and removed all the o-rings so I can measure them up. (Hopefully I can remember where each one went!) Will try and get the o-rings during the week again now and put everything back together!
  6. Thanks Johan, I just decided to go for the kit for now which arrived today. I'll see what o-rings I end up actually using and then will make a list for future use so I don't need to spend so much on the kit. I went and got some fork oil from a motorbike shop which seems to have the same viscosity as the rockshox one - Belray branded. Just need to get a few more items tomorrow and then gonna tackle the service this weekend. Will let you guys know how it goes!
  7. Yeah I'm in cpt. I probably need the whole kit this time and just replace everything that comes in the kit. It seems you can buy some of those washers online in 50 packs at http://www.petracycles.co.uk/rockshox-crush-washer-p-68988.html Seems a bit excessive though... Those alu ones look promising
  8. Thanks Drongo! I'll update when I've managed to obtain said items and how I found the service process. Looks like a trip to the toolshop and bikeshop are in order!
  9. OK, I think I'll get the kit for now. Tried to get one the other day from the LBS and they didn't know what I was talking about/didn't want to sell me one. They just said I should let them service the fork as its too difficult for me to do it myself. Guess I'll have to try some others in the area... Would those copper washers work as a replacement for the crush washers?
  10. @AndreZA Thanks, those are just the seals and don't seem to include all the other stuff. Its a much better price than the generic ones though! Will look into it.
  11. OK, will do thanks. I've only gotten so far as removing the lower legs and will proceed to service the rest this weekend. How do I tell if an o-ring or seal needs replacing? Should I just replace them all if I get the kit? It seems easy enough to do the actual service, just have no experience assessing if something is worn or needs replacing. It would be nice if you could just order the exact parts needed as it seems there are some things that need replacing a lot more than the others... @Weight Weenie - will let you know how it works out and any troubles I have along the way!
  12. I am currently attempting to service my Sid fork and was wondering where I can get the o rings, seals and crush washers? Do I need to buy that expensive kit or is there a cheaper place I can get the parts that I need? For example using generic o-rings etc. The crush washers (black washer and silver washer?) on the rebound adjuster side are both completely mauled for some reason.
  13. Has anybody tried seating the Ikons as tubeless? How well do they work and are the tyres as bulletproof as the LUST versions?
  14. Yes I'm in!
  15. Hi all Does anyone commute between the Pinelands/Mowbray area and Bellville/Backenfell? Which route do you use? Most roads through the area seem to be quite hairy!
  16. Has anyone used the Maxxis Ikons as tubeless? I hear they work quite well?
  17. Very nice sunglasses! I got myself a pair from crc for much cheaper than if I had bought locally. I don't think they available in SA yet but will be in a few months for about R2400...
  18. My friend and I luckily broke away from the group just before chappies! Else I would have probably gone down as well but didn't even know that that happened until now..
  19. Im in F and also keen to try get a sub 3! See you guys at the front!
