  1. eish partner... lost 1 since Dec, now 55, want to loose another 1 (maybe 2)
  2. #1 & #4 hope you will do ladies cuts as well?
  3. You can do anything from 1 to 4 hours, depends on the route you choose. I suggest going with someone that knows the area on your fist ride though! If you are up for a long ride, you can start at Hill Crest, take the green route over Kliprug, do Contermans, go over to Meerendal and all the way back! Awesome ride! Contact the local mtb club: www.tygerbergmtb.co.za They manage the trails. They arrange group rides and can also give you member's names that you will be able to ride with. They also have a weekly night ride at Meerendal! Good luck!
  4. Am I correct in saying that the 500 have more features to assist with training or do the 705 have the same, but also have the maps function?
  5. Why is the 500 better?
  6. ok... please explain to blondie what TSS and NP stands for... what about Suunto?
  7. Definately a MAC person! As far as features, I want it all! I have a very basic heart rate monitor at the moment, would be great to know how much climbing still to be done in a race and to monitor my training, etc, etc, etc. I am looking at the Garmin 705?
  8. I want to buy a decent computer for my MTB. What should I buy? What should I look out for?
  9. It is hard to imagine that 1 idiot's recklessness can change your life and those around you in a split second! He was very lucky, not so long ago a good friend of mine was not so lucky and was killed on the same road in Milnerton... went for a morning ride and never got back. Truck passed them too closely. Wake up call for us all... Life is short, make the best of every minute! On a positive note! NEW BIKE! YEAH! Get well soon Captain!
  10. Capricon, the last guy who called me tinker is still on his way up the hill eating my dust! BUT, will take your advise and lower my tyre pressure in front on tomorrow's ride and see what a difference it makes down the black at Contermans. Will let you know if it made a difference! (thanks)
  11. no, its about R16 000 so if she has 10 and he helps with 6, she won't have up upgrade or push a bike for a very long time!
  12. Frosty ice, look at this one! She will love it! (and you!)
  13. AGREE! Definately don't want my front tyre to let me down on that very rocky down hill! So will take your advise, change the front tyre to a different one and keep it pumped to 1.9. I might want to ride like a guy, but want my face to stay like a girl and keep all my teeth!
  14. Thanks! will try that. been pumping them to 1.9, which obviously is way to hard.
  15. weight 54kg will have to play around with it. so, your back tyre must be softer than your front?
  16. how do i know how hard to pump my tyres? i have maxxis crossmarks front and back. my front wheel veels very loose and slippery and i am wondering if i am not pumping them too hard?
  17. From a ladie's point of view... You know of course that the more you spend the more she will think you love her, right? You also know that a lady (with her first bike) does not care what components it has, as long as it is the right colour and makes her look good. Until she goes on her first very rocky, very steep single track down hill of course... I have a ladies specific Specialized! Best thing since the invention of a hairdryer! Agree with one of the other posts, if she is petite, get her a ladies specific.
