  1. Here's the latest from Pinkbike on this: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/the-quadrant-ring--north-shore-billets-move-to-the-future.html The news is a couple of days old already.
  2. Looks great Mickeym35, like that frame colour. Is there some significant to the name on the frame? Or is it just the brand name?
  3. Didn't see a single OTB or near miss on the Pick up Sticks section and it looked like there was lots of room to get front wheel / back wheel out of sync there. Those pros have serious skills, they're not just lean XC greyhounds. The men and women. Also think an improvement for a next time would be some more grandstand platforms at the main features, even if only 2 or 3 steps high.
  4. Great to see guys with such skills whizzing by up close. And Nino is a cycling machine: about an hour and a half after the finish we drove past him and 2 Scott/Sram mates coming back on the Jonkershoek road, probably doing a quick 20km cooldown ride.
  5. https://worldcupstellenbosch.com/ For schedule and course layout and parking.
  6. I also use about 90ml in a 2.3 29er tyre. Makes a nice gentle sloshing sound when spinning the wheel... Tyre and rim width affect the surface area over which the sealant is spread. So wider tyres require more sealant. There are some vague guidelines on the Stans bottles iirc. How much is too much? Dunno, apart from the extra weight thing, there could also be some interesting physics effects due to the inertia of the free liquid inside a rotating body. If you take it to extremes.
  7. Squirt, usually applied evening or couple hours before. Going to give the candle wax method a try sometime, method as described by ozcyclery Youtube guy. I like his semi-scientific methods.
  8. Aaaah vark!! Nasty. Best wishes for the recovery. (You going to share the morbid details? Where, what were you doing, did you ride home...)
  9. Eish, that's disappointing. Thanks for the feedback. Hope a fix comes along.
  10. Have these issues been resolved? Thinking of getting one of these and the Live tracking is a major feature for me.
  11. Looks slick in that black. Is the tyre clearance on the seatstays as tight as it looks in the photo?
  12. +1 for Salex. Real back to basics treatment, but it's gotten me through several sinus infections without antibiotics.
  13. Not sick but in bed on my back for 2 days now. Only position that's vaguely comfortable. Sciatic nerve pain in my butt and leg is driving me up the wall. Don't see myself cycling for a while.
  14. +1 for wider rims, especially to take advantahe of all these nice wide tyres that are available nowadays. An expensive upgrade to do on a current ride. But a shame on any bike manufacturer that still specs new "trail" bikes with 19mm rims.
  15. I can't comment on your options there, but am very happy after 4 months (guess 800kms...) of Spez Purgatory in front and Ground Control at the rear. Both 2.3, control casing and no problems yet. 90% of time riding in Jonkershoek. The GC does weep sealant through the sidewalls, not as bad as previous Continental though. That one was a threat to cleanliness.
  16. I don't road-bike, at all, but this makes me want to get on and pedal.
  17. These guys have some sharp ideas going there. I am intrigued by the 47tooth sprocket at the end of the second video. Could be a great upgrade to make all these Shimano 11-42 cassettes really functional.
  18. That's one contented looking dog. Glad she's better.
  19. According to my phone's Strava log, total climb was 1033m, total distance 73.4km (didn't cut corners).
  20. For those that are curious about the actual wind speeds, this website shows recent and current weather recordings from various instruments around the peninsula. http://www.windreport.co.za/wr_capepoint.shtml
  21. Hi, new to posting here on the hub. Been riding for several years, MTB only as I live slap bang in the middle of SA's great MTB spots, Jonkershoek. Been enjoying thehub for a while as a casual visitor.
