Went up to the newly renovated Northcliff tower with a bike for the first time. The view is always worth the pain to get there

Been off the bike for two weekends now due to a flu that seems to never want to go away! And this is after I even got the flu jab. I guess winter will always pose these challenges

I have always done the Braam spruit from Fratellis to Delta then Emmerentia, a few times all the way to Alberts. Today, I decided to go the other way and ended up close to the N1, was stopped by some flooding sewer, then rode back. Quite scenic, technical and a lot of people living or squatting near the trail but no incident. It was a great ride! Thanks to everyone who maintains the trails there! Had to walk across this bridge and many other technical parts

This was my first MTB race ever, great choice for first race. Fast and flat, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very well organised as well. Did the 40km in C group, perhaps the best lesson is to try for A or B group as on the singles I felt held back quite a bit. Also, I got there around 6, as I saw talk of long queues, but I feel that was a bit too early, the wait was long. Thanks to everyone who posted replies here, was helpful to prep.
