  1. Hi there everyone! Ive been riding for a couple months and absolutely love it! I'm lucky enough to live a 10min ride fron the Jonkerhoek reserve so I dont see myself getting bored anytime soon. Currently I ride a 2010 GT 3.0 which is as solid as a rock but I find it extremely heavy and I've saved up a bit to be able to upgrade. I ride a large frame and have a R6000 budget at absolute max so im looking at second hand bikes. I'd love a 29er but at R6000 im very limited for choice. I can either get a second hand lower spec'd 29er or a well spec'd 26er. What i am looking at- A 2010 Giant XTC 2 26er good condition Its components: Recon gold air fork with remote lockout xt rear slx front slx shifters shimano brakes tubeless 2012 Giant Talon 29er Rock Shox XC28 front shock (with lock out) COIL Sram crank Sram X5 shifters Avid Elixir 1 brakes Shimano Deore front derailleur Sram X5 rear derailleur The 29er is much heavier and does not have tubeless tyres, however it is a 29er. Do I go for the 29er or the 26er? I dont have the money to be able to upgrade the 29er.
  2. Ok, thanks. I was given a momsen AL729 frame and I have an XT rear derailer and SLX shifters so maybe ill put that all together which will leave me with a very nice bike.
  3. Really? but the fork alone costs about R4000? Deore brakes and crank is better than some R12 000 29ers come out with... For eg, the Momsen 529, it is an amazing bike but also comes with deore brakes and a standard shimano crank? im not saying the titan is better but surely worth more than 4-5k
  4. Well, I've basically decided on the bike but would really appreciate your suggestions. It is a second hand Titan Sport Disk 29er. BUT... It came out stock with very average components but the seller upgraded the groupset to FULL DEORE and the fork to Rock Shox Reba AIR. The wheelset and frame are therefore still stock. A tubeless conversion has been done. Please tell me what you think I should be paying? I like the bike and the guy seems to be a very nice genuine guy. I'm new riding and love it!!! Am upgrading from my 2009 GT 1.0.
  5. which bike did you decide on here... happy?
  6. Hey, me and 5 friends are very keen to join but are worriedwe may be too beginnery... We ride about 15km in Jonkershoek 3 times a week. Is that sufficient?
  7. Hi uys, i'm new to ridin and have a question to ask! One link on my chain somehow got damaged preventing it from moving freely. I removed the damaged link and bought a 8 speed master link(my bike is 8 speed). My problem is that my master link is the same width as the two links i'm trying to join, hence not allowing the master link to fit. The only way I will get it to fit would be if I were to remove 2 more links allowing me to connect 2 narrower links to one another. But If i do that my chain will be a bit shorter... Is that he right thing to do or am I being retarded?
