  1. Thanks for the advice and tips! What made you decide to go with pink?
  2. They are used and its normally a captain or similiar calling shots but everyone lets everyone else know what is up. Most teams use radios they very helpfull and if you get spat out the back you can put it on 5FM and cruise home!!! Are the radios pricey? Where can I get more info and prices on radios?
  3. Is there usually one person calling the shots in a race? How many teams use radio comunication in races. BTW - those radios were VERY intimidating when I saw them in my first league race.
  4. That makes absolute sense!
  5. That's a bummer! Hope you recover fast and get back to race fitness soon.
  6. How do you pick riders for a team? Do you know them or do you go by results or both?
  7. fatcyclist - It's very clear from colonel's post that I was wrong and that hills don't scare you!
  8. Do you only have 1 team (SV age group)? or do you have more than 1?
  9. fatcyclist - if I go by your hub name you should have done the spring league. Summer league is not very friendly to weight challenged cyclists. But as I don't know you, I'm sure there is a good chance I have it completely wrong!
  10. What happened to the SV race report on Chainwheel? We got one every week and this week it's missing. As I said before I love race reports.
  11. Thanks Bikemax! Looking forward to it!
  12. How do you form a team? Did you get sponsorship or did you sponsor them? Did you know all the riders you wanted in the team? How do you decide who your # 1 is?
  13. It would make sense to have big team, since you have more legs to help with attacks and to protect the (potential)yellow jersey. What are the drawbacks of a big team. Would a team of 10 riders be better than 6 riders for arguments sake?
  14. How big is a typical league team?
  15. Colonel - Are you riding in a team? Are there always more teams in the Summer League compared to the Spring league? I know there are SV riders/team(s) who are currently riding Elites, but will ride SV again in Summer league. PokerFace2007-10-29 10:10:24
  16. More teams means more attacking racing as riders are sent up the road trying to get moves away. More teams also means more chasing down of those moves as teams will have riders who are designated to this sort of role. Why should an individual rider take the chance of ruining his chances by chasing when others won't help ? With more teams this happens less. Take WCE race as an example - once Andreas had got away then if Arauma carriers were not willing to chase alone then it was game over becasue the individual riders were better off saving their legs and hoping to get a few points in the sprint. If there had been more teams then they would all have sent a few riders to contribute to the chase. It sounds like it's way more exciting. Why aren't there more teams?
  17. How would the tactics be different if you had less individual riders and more teams?
  18. You get racing (league) and then you get pace-lining (funride groups). If you want a good time, ride in the alphabet soup. If you want to race, ride league. I prefer racing, even if I know I could get a better time in the C group. The racing in SV is harder than C group pace line.
  19. I had the same experience with my 305, but managed to find out how to reset the unit after consulting the manual.
  20. Thanks for the money. I would have done the survey anyway...
  21. it's eight degrees outside! What's your point dude? You are lucky enough to have the time to ride. There are lots of guys who get up at 4 to try and squeeze in some time on the bike. Stop the self pity and climb on your bike.
