Measure the distance between the unit and the sensors - the manuals indicate what it should be. I have a Rox 9 and mine only worked once I placed the computer on the same side of the handlebar as the sensors.

I bought an ASR5 carbon about two months ago. Have not had any failure to report, but just did SabieX with it. No trouble from it except that you need to be fit - it wants to go fast up the hills! Awesome bike and Morningside's service is very good

I run the same combo, but 2.4 Mountain King at the front. I don't have grips issues with the front being a 2.4, but have read it before about them in reviews. I rode the 2010 ex9 at ride before you buy - it almost seemed you needed an easier gear to maintain speeds compared to other bikes. Awesome bike, but I must admit that the Commencal Super 4 carbon that I also rode there was lighter and faster, for the same price. My point: try and ride before you buy - I see there is a ride before you buy event at the crater cruise in October

I know it is old news for everyone that already has one - all I can say is that Brad's warranty service backup is as solid as the product. I had a problem and needed the light for a race this coming weekend. He was quick to respond and I got sorted out in time. Brad, awesome product, awesome service.

Try MTBSkills.co.za. Once you have the theory IMHO only one solution - more exposure to technical bits. I did not like the tough sections, but found that when the rider in front of you does it, you automatically have more confidence and you end up trying. More times with success than not. I get irritated When fellow riders cross a section that I am nervous about and therefore always want to improve on that section. You can do it! You are right to want more information, but I would suggest one stat to focus on because there is no standard for technical bits - find out how much climbing there is. That differentiates the races - compare Sabie to the Nissan series

I run the 2.4 MK and 2.2RK front and rear respectively. Grip is good and it did not affect speed (maybe a bit on flat roads). I ran a similar setup with Maxxis High Rollers 2.35 at the front and 2.1 Crossmarks at the back. IMHO the Conti's provide better grip and speed. 2.2 vs 2.4 - try to see a fitted 2.2 MK. It looks much narrower - more like a 2.0. Sorry to hear about misaligned special :-)

Received my new frame today from Graham at Commencal. It is reassuring to know these guys are behind the warranty. Two weeks downtime very depressing... New frame is white, looking forward to new setup

I also have a Commencal dual suspension and I had gearing issues initially, but that is not a Commencal issue it is more a setup issue. I had the bike at 3 different LBS's to set the front derailleur (it is difficult to reach with the suspension). The trick is simply to make sure that they understand the problem. The well known Fourways empire sorted me out. The bearings - I think you have been unlucky or they fitted poor quality bearings. I suggest that you try Juan (mobilebicycletechnix@yahoo.com) on the hub - I am much happier with the service results from him than some of the bike shops.

After a weekend in Sabie I had a nasty surprise waiting - what looks like a crack almost circling my top tube, right where it meets the head tube. It is a 2008 Commencal Meta 5.5. I cannot see an actual crack in the aluminium but the the paint has cracked neatly in a line - except for the strengthened top section. Any tips to repair or is it simply replace

Mackie, My number of posts do not qualify me for many comments, but here goes: Fully agree with your points, specifically PM's on sales - the classifieds thread becomes quite long with important bits spread over a few pages, which is not helping sellers or buyers. I would also broaden the topic section - people are asking the same questions repeatedly because they do not search and a wider range of topics may help.
