  1. Haha yeah I'm definitely planning on stopping at the Val du Charron waterpoint for a free hotdog this year!
  2. Can't wait! This is a fun one! Not feeling in top shape, aiming for sub 3 hours..
  3. Haha before I do that, this is finally starting to look like an excuse for "I now need a new roadbike to make both our bikes fit on the trainer"
  4. Yeah I agree.. not an option for us. Small vs Large frame.
  5. Hi Guys.. just ordered the Kickr 4 for the coming winter months, think it will be delivered by Thursday. Quick question. How much effort is it to switch from the quick release to through axle adapter? My wife and I will both be using the Kickr probably 3-4 days per week during the winter. Her bike is quick release and mine through axle. I'd probably be on the Kickr early mornings from 05:00 to 07:00, and she'll probably get on at around 08:00. Is it something that's going to drive me up the walls changing every day?
  6. Hi Guys.. Doing the Solo 8 Hour MTB Challenge on the Sunday. Was wondering if it is possible to pick up my race package on the Saturday morning already? We're attending a wedding the Saturday that's around two hours drive from Wellington and only returning on the Sunday morning, so chances are good that I'm going to pitch a hour or two late for the registration and start of the race. Will I be allowed to just fall in at around 10:00 if I miss the start? I'm obviously going to try and make it in time to the startline, maar die wyn mag dalk vloei..

  8. I started at Val du Charron and just followed the white boards with the red arrows. Easy to find, yes. All the split points are also clearly marked.
  9. Had my first ride on the Wild Boar trails Saturday. Already love it! Now I can't wait for my new house to get built just outside Wellington..these trails will basically become my backyard playground! Just a quick question.. i got there at around 08:00, there was no one at the trail centre, so I signed in on the register kept in the container with my Hero Membership. Is this the correct procedure? From what time are we allowed to ride? I'd like to hit the trails around 06:00 if possible.
  10. I was out on a training ride with the Mtb.. on my way back to Paarl, just outside Wellington, I passed a guy doing this race.. it was around 12:00, so I assume he was having a tough old day on the bike.. told him to sit in my slip and gave him a wheel to suck up to the 4 way stop towards Windmeul. I turned left towards Paarl, and he asked me with tears in his eyes if he still needs to go straight up that hill. Shame I felt his pain, we all had those days before. The marshals were at the 4 way stop 06:30 when I went pass there earlier, but they were already gone by 12:00 when he got there.. shouldn't they wait until the last rider and sweeper vehicle come by?
  11. Can't seem to find any info on how to enter this event?
  12. New seeding index improved by almost 12 points after this race
  13. Perfect training at the right time before the Karoo2Coast I would say! Relatively new to longer distances this is exactly what I did last year. Entered for the 60miler(100km). Had proper fun! It's rolling hills all the way, no long climbs like the K2C, but also not a lack of climbing. Even if you do it just for the vibe and the breakfast roosterkoek in the 45min neutral zone at the ferry it's well worth it! I ended up doing Around the Pot in 5 hours, and Karoo2Coast in 5 hours 30min a few months later. Just remember, it's rolling hills DOWN to the ferry at 48km, and rolling hills UP back to town. The second halve of the race is definitely more climbing..on a stomache full of roosterkoek..on legs that got cold in the 45min neutral zone. Just keep that in mind. I went full-out on that first 48km down to the ferry at an average of almost 25kmh, and then around 70km I really started to struggle because I didn't keep any reserves in the tank. Ended with an average of 20kmh, so the second halve was real slow going for me. They had a grader on that road just before the race, so smooth gravel roads all the way(except the last few km)..easier terrain than Karoo2Coast. I was on the verge of entering for the full 100miler this year, but my wife is trying to get back into cycling again, so we entered as a mixed team for Around the Pot 60miler. She's a runner so the general fitness is there, but the cycling training is not up to speed yet..we'll probably just aim for 7 hours, enjoy the atmosphere and stop at all the waterpoints.
  14. I promise you it's worth the wait! Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  15. Was wondering the same thing.. On my Strava Flyby's alone I spot 7 people on the 60km route that took one or both of the 40km shortcuts. Why would you do that though? To better your seeding? Can't think that that would be it. To (cheat)beat a buddy or just too tired I guess.
  16. I remember overtaking that Kona just past the 33km waterpoint. My thoughts at that moment was "Bliksem, hoe het die ou even tot hier getrap!"
  17. Agree, proper fun! Last hour or so became a bit of a mudbath, that added to the fun! 3h15min. Weather help a hell of a lot for me to smash the sub4 I was aiming for.. Still sat behind slow guys on the singletracks though... Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

  19. Perfect cycling weather predicted for Saturday!! Hope it holds up.. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  20. I did the 40km last year with an average seeding(Think it was third group of 40km riders) and I was constantly held up by other people on the singletracks. People getting off and pushing up the first 10m technical section 5km into the race holding up everyone. I decided I'm just going to enjoy it istead of getting frustrated.. My tactic was to push flatout from the go and sit and rest behind people on the singletrack where it is impossible to overtake. No need to get angry or frustrated. Ended up doing 2h40min. I'm sure I could have sliced another 15-20min off my time if the singletracks weren't so crowded. Hoping the 60km route this year has less of that kind of thing happening. But considering it might happen again, I'm just aiming for sub 4hours and enjoying the ride. Where the 40km and 60km join most of the singletracks are done and it gets more open for overtaking, don't think that will be an issue.
  21. Seeding is out.. CL - 07:12. I'll take that.. Nice early start to avoid most of the sun! Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  22. Yes! That's the one I saw this morning when I posted I think it's still open. Then I clicked on this one a few minutes later... https://www.capetowncycletour.com/lifecycle-week/mtb-challenge/entries/ And it said entries are now closed. Looks like organisers are slipping up here.. WineSteyn, follow the link Desi posted and see if you can still get in through the backdoor..
  23. Sorry, followed the link..entries are indeed closed.
