  1. Is this thread quiet cause we're all training? Hope everyone's training is going well?
  2. Cheers guy, thanks for the tip... Luckily she's not a wine mom she'll be on the track probably taking lotsa pics and making sure the girls smash the course and have fun. Then it will be our turn, I'll try my best for her to get some airtime over the jumps.
  3. My eldest also went through a stage like this, then I was on Insta one night and showed them (her and her sister) a video about a little kid smashing some trail and then she seemed keen to get back on. I started slowly With her and there we go. She tackled a 4km trail ride the other day (part of a kiddie triathlon) She was loving it me not so much, I was busy kakking myself cause I had to do some "on the spot" training cause madam didn't know where to position pedals when negotiating rocks and tree stumps. The last thing I needed was her to fall. Anyway she finished (both of them actually) they now classify themselves as Triathletes....
  4. Heading to Contansia Uitsig this weekend with my girls, they are both super amped... Mom not so much though... It's time mom got some dirt on her MTB...
  5. Fortunately the council resurfaced the road so I no longer need to concentrate on that section of road anymore.
  6. I'd prefer a headwind in the morning, cycling home into a headwind isn't the best.
  7. Had a similar situation close to where I live, used to run past this one spot where some box also thought it was a good idea to dump concrete, one morning still half asleep on my morning run I wasn't concentrating and my foot got caught on the concrete and I went down like a sack of ****... I was the moer in to put it mildly!
  8. Commuted a few times in the last two weeks and love it. What made me laugh this morning was some chommie in a MK1 golf came screaming past me in Lansdowne trying to beat the traffic and when I got to Obs I passed him while he was sitting in traffic... Love the commute!
  9. Hahahahaha that brings back a memory I suppressed after forgetting my onnie at home too one day. Walking around commando at work was not too bad but also forgetting my socks on the same day was a bit uncomfortable.
  10. But you'd recognise those noombies in a "flash" (you see what I did there? C'mon Stevie Wonder could see what I did there!) Still haven't entered yet Maybe I should pull finger and enter myself and the missus ...
  11. The missus just messaged me now saying she's going to sort out accomodation. If push comes to shove we'll stay with family. I the family has my back, the wife and I have been doing events for years, she's slowed down cause of the kids but hey best way is to get them involved too! lol The girls first Tri is next weekend :-)
  12. Payment made .... I shook as I clicked pay now, I messaged the wife and she replies woohoo! I'm excited for you! WTF women, I'm shitting my pants here and you making plans and sending friends and family "the news". Anyhoo she messaged a few of her friends to say that she's now officially a Triathlon widow. I'm weirdly excited, I think I should be scared but this has been a goal of mine for a long time.
  13. I tried not joining a gym but it was impossible, the public pools in and around Cape Town favour the unemployed!
  14. That looks awesome, my missus has only ridden hers a handful of times!
  15. Good Luck for Sunday, I'll be there too. I'm doing the Ultra. If you've not done any mass open water swims then try and get some space, either the back or sides of the pack. Enter the water early get water in your suit, stick your head under the water and just get familiar with your surroundings. The water is dark (well last Ultra I did) so keep that in mind. Don't get freaked out by the dark water, try and relax and the most important thing is to go out there and have fun, make yourself proud it's your race!
  16. You based in CT?? You talking about Cape Ultra this Sunday 6 Oct? I'll be there aswell. Good luck! Don't worry about times and where you are placed, I can tell you now there's massive respect to those folk who slog it out and finish long after the winner has crossed the line. Hell once I even walked with a guy he had the clean up crew behind him and we all chipped in and helped him along we could see he wanted to finish and that he did! Massive applause all around. At this years discovery Tri in Cape Town, someone standing close to me saw that a swimmer was being caught and passed by the next group, they immediately said why would people enter if they know that they will be caught. My response was firstly, why haven't YOU entered? Secondly it doesn't matter, everyone races their own race. Didn't have much to say other than, "but still" so the asshole in me questioned what the "but still" means? He really didn't have anything to say after that, or I couldn't make out the mumbling of me being a d*ck about what he said.
  17. A part of me wants to tell you to stay away from this very addictive sport but the other half is standing in a little corner whispering to you to come to the dark side cause we have cookies... True story, best sport in the world. My mate got involved recently and he joked saying he's glad he gave up drugs for this sport, without hesitation I replied saying that drugs are still cheaper than this sport. Have your feet/run analyzed, apparently there's a really good guy out in the Bellville area. If you are struggling to run then try the run for a few mins walk for a few mins, some watches have that setting to make it easier. But yes, welcome it's an awesome sport. I'm entering my 5 and 8 year old into an event in November and they are super keen! Still working on the missus as she's not made her comeback after having our kids, but on the bright side she finished the cycle tour this year and didn't say no to when I mentioned that the entries should be opening up soon.
  18. Awesome, one day when the kids are bigger I'll defo commute to work. Right now I'll enjoy the hugs and kisses and them wanting to hold my hand until they get to the classroom.
  19. Looking forward to this, defo going to spectate.
  20. The other day some telemarketer phoned me to offer me some or other phone contract with data etc... So I shouted loudly, I WON A PHONE and bombed her with questions, what type of phone did I win, what colour is it... do you need my address or can I fetch it... She's in the background shouting NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO... She hung up, I went back to work, she hasn't phoned back... My colleague on the other hand was upset with me for the rest of the day cause I think she pissed her pants with laughter but didn't want to tell me....
  21. My first Cycle Tour in 96 I saw a lady flash her noombies at me just before Noordehoek Cafe.... She's the reason I ride every year
  22. I see what you did there.... lol Stevie Wonder can even see that!
  23. Nope, I actually bought these from the company I used to work for years ago.
