  1. Do you want to win or finish the race? Did the TransBaviaans 2010 and the terrain is district roads... except for a 200m towards the end. So thinking the TransKaroo will more or less be the same. the kms go quickly. So if you can do a half technical 50kms comfortably, do 100kms a couple of times before the race, you'll finish it. If you wanna win the race or beat your best friend's team... Dunno
  2. Nope, never. no cash. Cake, biscuits, food... compliments and lots of referrals!
  3. Linden... you can even get tinsel on the handle bars!
  4. I dont think you're supposed to be kicking??? Try put one of those 8-shaped polystirene thinggies between ur knees.. just arms then. Works well. Also backstroke the same way. If you can get/borrow a waistband swim support, you can 'water jog'.(have a look in your gym at the swimming gear.. sometimes trainers leave their equipment there and you can borrow it.) Brilliant for most leg injuries, and you dont feel completely useless only using your arms. You might even get a sweat outside of the sauna! And... if its your ankle... what about a spinning bike? As long as it just doesnt move sideways or not?
  5. Wont be training that time of the day: but can tell you where you should definately go to for training... and there will be lotsa other riders too: Groenkloof Nature Reserve by just before Pta. Secure, beautiful! Other tracks would be The Spruit starting from Albert's Farm to Rivonia, through Emmarentia dam. But you HAVE to take a partner on this stretch. Only 2 places that I can think of now that you can train off-road during the week.
  6. Jip, part of the family of EPHEDRINE's that THINZ(now banned) and other diet-products & steroids contain. Variants include drugs like "E" or speed. Increases heart-rate & alertness. REALLY dangerous for cardio-athletes. YOU CAN GET A HEART ATTACK no matter your age. Extremely addictive. Stay away, stay away. Take care of your body now and your body will take care of you after 50.
  7. Jip, been there once. Bought a couple quick links asked a few questions about parts and lights and noticed the guys didnt have a clue what they were talking about.... so I left and vowed. Now I drive a little further to what I can wholeheartedly call my Local Bike Shop, they all cycle, they make wins too, on top of the gear game, they help me finding good value for money. I've had a couple emergency same-day repairs done, and in return, they get cake, pancake, brownies, muffins... whatever the multisport-budget still allows for.... and of course good reference. Saying goes: where your money is, your heart is. Guess my heart is in 3rd Ave, Linden.
  8. Thank you OneTime/PainKing, I am crying/laughing! ... so loud I had to share with the rest of the office.
Laaste, ek vind mense baie goedgesind as jy s? jy wil verbysteek waar moontlik. Jammer, maar ek looove singletrack. AdriFerrari2010-05-28 02:33:49
  10. Curious: why duallie at night... you gonna sleep on it?
  11. whahoo...! Teak Place also has one... more or less in the same area as Van Gaalen. Except theirs are only the plankies... no extra floating devices... you have to mooooove when ur on there!
  12. oh and another one... most important one... make sure you are visible! Reflectives, tail lights... all of it.
