    The 2024 Imbuko Big 5 MTB Challenge in partnership with Canetsfontein will bring you a perfect recce ride for the 2024 Absa Cape Epic Stage 4! The Imbuko event will be the ONLY opportunity to ride the route in its entirety, so better get those entries in so you don't miss out.


    With approximately 80km and 3 000 meters of vertical ascent, the route consists of mostly singletrack riding and beautiful scenery.

    Imbuko Family Vintners will be hosting the “IMBUKO BIG FIVE MTB CHALLENGE” on 18 February 2023. In this unique challenge, riders will endure a total ascent of 3 000m over 77km, making it the ultimate one-day event to test your strength and fitness only four weeks before the 2023 ABSA Cape Epic. Race starts at 6h30!

  4. Event Name: 2022 Masgcor Cederberg 2-Day Trek

    The 2022 Mascgor Cederberg 2-Day Trek provides the perfect event for any level of rider: serious, fairly serious, wannabee, relaxed and social...Bring your mountain bike, e-bike or gravel bike, and join in a fun weekend in the Cederberg. The event offers the following:


    Friday 20 May 2022 (race registration): Spit Braai & free show by the Bottomless Coffee Band at the start/finish venue in Clanwilliam. The Spit Braai is R150pp extra (in addition to the entry fee) and will benefit the local school/community.


    Saturday 21 May 2022: Riders depart at 8h00 and will ride into the Cederberg to Nuwerust Camping & Hiking campsite (via Matjiesrivier). Here, all your meals are catered, camping spot, tent, mattress provided (all included in entry fee), just bring your own bedding. We will transport all luggage to Nuwerust and back. A legend bonfire provides the setting for happy times with friends and family. And your goody bag goodies will see you cool (and warm!) for the weekend. Phone and e-bike charging facilities available. Wi-fi tickets will be sold at Nuwerust.


    Sunday 22 May 2022: Riders depart at 8h00 and ride back to Clanwilliam via Kromrivier Cederberg Park and Driehoek Farm.


    Hot showers await you at the finish.


    For those peeps who'd like to camp at the start/finish on Friday 20 May 2022, the school premises are there for you at R100pp. Hot showers available, but no electricity. Bring gas cooking applicances with for the Friday eve and charge your phone using your power bank or in your car. The school will be selling coffee and muffins.

    The Imbuko Big Five MTB Challenge has moved to 18 September 2021 and will test riders over 75km and 3 000m of climbing. This will be the perfect preparation for the 2021 ABSA Cape Epic, prepping you for most of the Epic-type riding you could expect.

     

    Starting (at 6h30) and finishing at Imbuko Family Vintners outside Wellington, riders will be treated to some amazing mountain biking, and entertainment after the ride.

     

    ONE bunch start at 6h30!

    Thursday 16 September 2021: Cape Union Mart Shop, Entrance 2, Canal Walk - 13h00 until 19h00;

    Saturday 18 September 2021: Imbuko Family Wines- from 5h30.

     

    Live tracking is available, which you can rent for R100 - this will enable your friends and family to follow your progress on the big day!

  6. We are sure you are all aware of the prohibition placed on large gatherings due to the COVID-19 virus. As such, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Gravel Travel MTB, Trail Run & Gravel Ride, which was due to take place on 19 April 2020. 

     

    If you have already paid for your entry, we will arrange with Entryninja for a refund of your entry fee. Please be patient while we process all the refunds. Please also note that there will be a very small % deducted for the Entryninja Admin Fees.

     

    If things are looking up later in the year, keep your eyes open for the G&T50Miler, G&T25Miler and Dirty Double, planned for 31 August 2020.

  7. Event Name: 2020 Masgcor Cederberg 2-Day MTB Trek
    When: 16 May 2020 - 17 May 2020
    Where: Augsberg High School, Clanwilliam, Western Cape
    Category: MTB

    Join us on a magic 2-day MTB ride through the Cederberg. Day 1 takes you from Clanwilliam to Nuwerust, where you can relax (camping and all meals included in entry fee, plus a very cool goody bag and event T-shirt) with friends and family. Day 2 takes you back to Clanwilliam.

     

    Start/finish is at Augsberg High School in Clanwilliam. Your vehicle will be secure at the school grounds for the weekend. Supporters can also join in the fun - enter your supporters when you enter for the ride on Entryninja.

     

    Gravel bikes and E-bikes welcome, but E-bikes may not share in the spoils of the podium. E-bike batteries can be charged at Nuwerust after Day 1.

    Climb #2 - THE SEVEN PEAKS

    The Seven Peaks climb starts immediately after the first water point. It is the shortest climb of the Big Five, but arguably the hardest????. This single-track climb is 4.4km long and gains 375m, with riders reaching the highest point at 682m. Riders will be challenged by a couple of technical, rocky sections.????????

  10. There's gravel and gravel. The Amarider earlier this year was "gravel friendly", but no ways in hell I would have ridden that on my gravel grinder.

    We will be sending event info to all entrants via email on Wed (28/8) evening. But here are they anyways:

     

    Registration: 1 Sept 2019 at Doolhof Wine Estate, Wellington from 7h00 until event start (map/directions https://doolhof.com/contact-us/)

     

    Rider or distance changes: Can be done when you register at Doolhof

    Late entries: At Doolhof on race day at an additional cost

     

    Start times:

     

    Men (50Miler): 8h45

    Ladies (25Miler and 50Miler): 8h50

    Timing: Manual timing done by Great Time - no timing chips needed

     

    Prize-giving: 13h00 (adjustable according to riders finishing)

     

    Prizes: First 3 males and first 3 females overall - no age category prizes

     

    Food, drink & entertainment: Doolhof Malbec Gin, Berg River Brew Craft Beer, Doolhof Wines, Cooldrinks, Coffee, lots of food options & supervised kids area (yes, you can leave your child with us while you go ride)

  13. Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I love the Wild Boar Trails from VDC, but they can get quite muddy after rain - although it is still great fun, I wouldn't want to damage the trails. Is the Scout Trail a better option in the wet? I'm happy to support them with the trail fee.

     

    All the trails should be fine tomorrow and Saturday (Saturday definitely fine). More rain predicted from Saturday night, so Sunday maybe not a good option.

     

    So, to answer your question: Scouts Trail will be good, as will the other trails. Have fun!
