  1. radness - good on you! we passed through there 8ish. twas cold!
  2. PS. Dirtman, Brent's bridge has a busted plank, and the mini-bridge after it seems to be missing a plank completely
  3. rode it this morning - 2 thumbs up! flippen gnarly jeep track up though, eina, but so worth it on the way back down. track definitely needs riding in and a couple of berms - had some lekker sideways sphincter puckering moments
  4. wow. that's less than half price!
  5. that's always how it goes hey happy with it?
  6. how much was it?
  7. I love my Fox Flux - extra coverage is good, and it's a tough, comfy helmet. And it looks flippen kief, isn't that the most important part? Can't see the special on the buycycle site though?
  8. Contour (formerly VHoldR) are about to release the first helmet cam with integrated GPS receiver. Essentially you record your video, and when playing back using their software, your route, speed and elevation are shown on a map. Flippen kief. How much fun is this going to be for recce'ing rides? Of course, let's hope it's compatible with the more popular GPS and mapping programs out there... Read more here on my new blog: http://www.ratherberiding.co.za/?p=50 and here on the contour site: http://contour.com/camera Pre-oder for R4 199 at http://www.actioncameras.co.za/ContourGPS.html B)
  9. nice one, i think i'll do option 2 this weekend, thanks
  10. So, do you follow the green route (markers) until you get to the top? or do you just go straight up the main jeep track?
  11. so how about those prices then
  12. you've got mail
  13. Lekker! Good prices! Glad to hear you'll be bringing more in - I need knee guards badly! How soon? Should I wait? Silly question - but have you considered bringing in some of the MX stuff as well, such as the body armour - Evo Pressure Suit (which I suppose the downhill crew would also be interested in)? Also - you bringing in the Mullet helmet?
  14. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/results?brand=285 Where'd that come from? No-one brings 661 in anymore, right? Think they did a bulk order from CRC since there's a sale on? Pity they don't have any kneeguards...
  15. I was back on 2 wheels by last weekend already! took my wheel in last Friday and by Saturday the mech. at Geco cycles had straightened it out! won't survive another big bump so i'm shopping for a replacement... now my shock, that's another question! lockout lever and preload adjuster are jammed (not from this accident) hopefully getting it back tomorrow, else i'll be on my other 2 wheels this weekend (motorbike)
  16. shot x2 - was about to buy another pair of falkes!
  17. quite keen on the singletrack or freeride shorts, when i have the dosh never knew about the socks until now, methinks i might need to order a pair (or 2) B)
  18. I sent an email to info@firstascent.co.za and was contacted back by Mike
  19. Bought myself a First Ascent Apple Jacket recently - it's a wind / water resistant outer shell that stuffs into it's own chest pocket to the size of an apple, basically. Took it for it's first outing one morning in Grabouw and it performed very well, until I bailed on a rocky descent and put a small tear in the sleeve. Emailed First Ascent and got a response the same day - send us the jacket and we'll sort it out. Dropped it off at their offices, and just over a week later their driver rang my bell - here's your jacket. They repaired the tear with a small patch, and then put a big square patch on each elbow (tear was just about the elbow) to add some extra strength to both arms, which was very subtley / tastefully done and I thought was a nice touch. Best part - no charge! Big Kudos to First Ascent for the great service, plus on top of that it's a great jacket and I would easily recommend both the product and the brand to anyone! B)
  20. that's the spirit! more, more!
  21. There are so many trails to ride in the Western Cape, and so many different parts to ride on each trail! For those who like pedalling up hills, blasting down singletrack, and riding everything in between, help me put together a checklist, so that, if like me, you've only scratched the surface, you have something to work towards... For example: Majik Forest - ride to the beacon - ride the singletrack through the forest - ride the singletrack to the substation - ride the substation up the next hill - ride the singletrack back to the substation Jonkershoek - ride the contours to the top - ride ALL the singletrack sections down (3? 4?) - ? - ? - ? Meerendal - ride the red route Grabouw - ? - ? - ? Tokai - ? - ? - ? Contermanskloof? Hillcrest? Kliprug? Delvera? Oak Valley? etc So... what have you got to contribute to the checklist? What are your "must rides" in the WC?

  24. whatever comes stock on a mongoose tyax super
  25. nope, wasn't trying to jump the ditch - more like trying to ride it through and see if it was jumpable on the other side... checked it out properly first, should easily have gone in one side and up / out the other with little / no air - instead i took the completely wrong side / line - sharper lip, and soft ground on the other face - that's why i lost it - soft ground, wheel just went straight!! look to the right of where i went in, you should easily go in one side out the other... nope, for some bizarre reason i went the wrong way and realised it too late! clipless, me? NEVER!
