  1. i feel queasy, thanks for that
  2. http://dialdbikes.co.za/fiveten-baron-shoe.html Anyone know if these are decent for trail / AM flat pedal riding? My Vans are starting to die a slow death...
  3. Ok well you all know how to spot me, say howzit. PoS, I promise I'll try recognise you and remember your name this time
  4. Me too... There are shuttles this Sunday at Contermans, a couple of us will be taking our AM bikes and riding all the trails down (as opposed to the DH lines), as it's open to anyone... R90 to shuttle, starts at 10 - who's coming?
  5. Everything aside, Groupon still has the Extreme Light 1200 and 3000 on special: http://www.groupon.co.za/deals/national-deals/Extreme-Lights/7397956 All pyro / extreme / yadda yadda aside - is the ExtremeLight 1200 at R699 a worthwhile buy for someone looking to get into a bit of night trail riding?
  6. Interesting article on Enduro, and what the format entails: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Beginners-Guide-to-Enduro-What-the-hell-is-it-2012.html
  7. freaking heck, that was one rowdy run. I love his style...
  8. That explains why I dig it so much also, the only thing still stock on this bike is the frame AFAIK
  9. The Meta 5.5 and MetaAM's suspension linkages are different - the MetaAM borrows its cues from the Commencal Supreme DH V3 I love my 5.5. but if I had the cash I would get the MetaAM, purely because of the awesome reviews it's been getting. I haven't ridden it. And of course, my 5.5 is of the older variety (but not much different from the current model)
  10. Out of my price range tankman - but I am stoked to see an all-mountain 29er selling well! PS, who is "we", out of interest?
  11. Two identical ads - they were advertising complete bikes from DMR, Dartmoor, BeOne, Nukeproof and others. I checked the Nukeproof prices against regular retail in SA, and it was over 40% less. Also, I know the guys that import DMR and Dartmoor, and this is not them. They called themselves "Chencley GMX Bikes" and the email address was something @gmx.com - GMX is a free email service. A mate of mine mailed them and got the usual "here are our bank details, once you've paid we'll ship" reply. It was clearly a scam.
  12. Thanks to the hub mods for being on the ball. Reported two ads that were clearly spam and within minutes they were taken down! Please guys, don't be caught up in scams, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
  13. this clinic sounds like fun - where can i get more info?
  14. what jump clinic??!!
  15. Built up AFAIK
  16. Damn you hairy, I don't have 26k
  17. gwhite and I were chatting on PM, and I suggested to him that if he's enjoying his AM riding and wants to push in that direction, he's eventually going to find the limits of the 120mm travel Camber. My suggestion was to sell and buy something with a better spec, but 140mm of travel (pref. with a through axle as well). I just think that's the more cost effective option.
  18. Splat, I stand corrected. I hope it sells, I really do
  19. Go to the presentation and ask them Bontie, that link you posted is for the Tallboy LT, not the Tallboy. I doubt we'll see the Tallboy LT on the floor
  20. Go flats. There's no shame in it. Clipping in isn't the "only" way, it's just "another" way. Sure, it's better in certain ways, but is it crucial? I don't think so.
  21. that 2.5 UST is just MOER heavy. That's why I got rid of the High Rollers I had (2.5 UST)! But to be fair, I should have tried them for a bit longer...
  22. Ask and ye shall receive That's the 2.5 - AFAIK the 2.35 doesn't come in UST. BUT apparently you can run it tjoopless without hassles?
  23. Aren't duties on tyres from CRC massive?
  24. I'm running mountain king II 2.4 protection front and back, tubeless. pretty happy with the combination, though I think I may go for a rubber queen up front next time. dunno why, I just think I'd like something meatier (not that the mtn king sucks) but I really haven't done enough miles to comment in detail, sorry was considering the X-King for the back, but happy that I stuck with the Mtn king...
  25. Looks like my rear rim and hub are on their way out... so at the moment, my thinking is: 1. Nukeproof wheelset 2. Nukeproof rims - existing front hub (which I think is a Giant, 15mm), with either Nukeproof or Hope rear hub - hoping to use existing spokes It all depends on budget. Time to do sums How do I figure out if my existing spokes will fit the new rim and hub? That would help my sums a lot!
