  1. the plan is 7 days... maybe August/September...
  2. Might as well post it here as well... Im looking to sell my pannier set if anyone is intersted I did give or take 1000km with this kit, but its still in good nic Currently retail for R6700, asking R5000
  3. this is what my kit consists of, but the rack is for 26" & 27.5" its useses clamps as there no space to mount to the fame, we have ridden BAD roads and its very solid
  4. I want to sell my rack and panniers if you interested... what wheel size you got?
  5. What bike do you have? Rather just het you a proper rack from these guys... http://www.cycletouring.co.za/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_11
  6. My wife asked the same thing... answer: if it rains i get up and cycle on... if it rains from the right angle, you could still get some sleep you will see in the one pic I have little ground sheet (bivvy is too bulky for me), more for if the ground is already wet when pitching the tent. I really did not find the extra water bottles to be an issue, Ive had them on for a couple of trips, on road and off, no hassle We call it "adventure cycling" more than bike touring anyway...
  7. Not that afraid of clawlies... i felt save enough... Total came to about 5kg, but varried as the diet changed along the route... 90% of my food i got along the way...
  8. I only get it to export to gpx, sorry, having a slow morning... too bog to port here message me your email and ill sent it to you Where you cycling from?
  9. Could not have gone any better!! my whole new setup was @ 110% Going over Breedtsnek Campsite 2 Inside the "tent"
  10. Jip i got this one from k-way, doesnt weigh much. Bought it for hikeing
  11. Im doomed the second i fit the panniers to my bike... pack WAY too much then... This weekend will be the lightest ive ever bikepacked...
  12. me, myself and I...
  13. felt crafty again last night... wanted a little more space for a spare short... as it ended up making the seat bag a little short... so, tadaaaa!!
  14. Jip Got a anchor line crossing the bike, helps a bit of support on the tarp side, and anchoring the bike to to fall over. I played around a bit with taking the front wheel off and turning the bike upside down... taking the wheel off and plasing it next to the bike closes the opening between the fork and front down tube. The seat bag has no support, bassically just forming a "tube" to stuff my tent and sleeping bag in, then rolling the edge and buckling it it, i pritty much coppied this part off my Ortlieb panniers...
  15. Material I was looking for ripstop nylon tent material but could not find any at the time, ended up buying some "umbrella" material Running a anchor rope accros the bike that acts as a support line for the tarp, 8 grommets spread out evenly Not carrying a matres, just small ground sheet to try keep sleeping bag dry
  16. Its a very workable solution... This will fully be tested on our little trip next week... The whole idea of the tarp tent is to use trees/fencing/bicycle as the support of your tent, no need to carry poles This basically consists of a tarp, rope and pegs Google is full of ideas...
  17. Tarp tent...
  18. Thanks Ill still tweak a bit over the weekend... Below is my diy from yesterday...
  19. Sepia ... Diy attempt no. 1... Bit short, but sleeping bag and tent is in there...
