  1. They ALL get medals and a cold drink and a sweet and a .........hey lots of things.!!
  2. I enjoy the kiddy ride, I generally take my brothers little girl along and jog around behind her, I am not sure of the age limits but she is 6 if that helps?
  3. Oh, okay,I never read them Bateleur1 so I didnt know, I wonder if anyone has an old copy and wont mind wasting half an hour looking through it and letting us know........................................................ for the betterment of the "hubbing" society of course.?
  4. Sponsor Pulled out!!! Hmmm, sign of the times eh Cruxie??
  5. I actually did send an e-mail yesterday to the organisers about this, but have not yet recieved a reply.
  6. .............the "Shova" registration situation which got me to wonder if there are any stats freely available as to which "general area" supports "out of their area" races the most (ie) how many Gauteng cyclists support the Argus, Tour Durban, Shova etc as opposed to say Western Cape cyclists supporting the 94.7, Lost City, Shova etc. I am gonna stick my neck out and say the majority of "travelling cyclists" (ie) supporting races out of their immediate province are from Gauteng, ...................but I am quite prepared to be proved wrong.!! ..................failing this proof, I will continue with this assumption.! ...................My next assumption will be, that if Gauteng riders are the biggest supporters of "out of province" races, how come the organisers find it quite acceptable to inconvenience us so much??? "Shova" race as a prime example.!
  7. Thats sad - I wonder why?
  8. Will be my 9th one, but I must say I am not rushing to enter!!. I think its a very overrated ride and I have not decided if I will bother. The only reason I MAY continue with it is because I like to use the spare time to visit all the weird little wine farms all over and fill my cellar to capacity - this year I had to freight back 230kgs of wine - I mentioned to SAA that I was a bit "overweight" but they had a serious lapse of humour when they saw how much - but anyway, it was easy to just send it with SAA cargo and arrived two days later.!!
  9. Hmmm, I have already entered, but I am disappointed in this state of affairs and I am just not going to ride. I cannot see the sense of forcing entrants who drive through (and stay) in Pietermaritzburg to drive the extra 200 odd kms to Durban and back - I am actually not gonna do it.! If its an issue to get the numbers up to Johannesburg, then at least have the numbers available on Sat. in Pietermaritzburg - this would make sense to me. I hear what you say Linnega, but on a point to point race like this, it is inconsiderate and smacks of supreme arrogance to force entrants to drive 200 kms out of our way. They have my money this year - and I doubt now I will ride - but for sure, they wont get my entrance fee next time. I have always enjoyed the event (except the wind) but when I am paying R200.00 odd to enter a race, driving 1200 kms to support, spending money supporting the local tourist industry with hotel accomodation, restaurants, shops (my wife will see to that) and whatever else I may do, I expect at the very least to have my day be considered by the organisers and be subject to as little inconvenience as possible.
  10. Hmm, all this remids me of the old Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times.!" ...........To be honest I have always found Chunkys posts interesting and have said so before, he appears to "call a spade a spade" and appears to know exactly whats happening in the "inner circles".! The information Chunky imparts to anyone calling him regarding doping is by no means illegal, it is readily available in text form, in book form and probably even via the internet if you know where to look. I know of two books written by medical doctors and readily available from any international book seller on dope usage in sport, products used in differant sports, suggested dosages, cycles of use etc, some even go so far as to tell you how to prevent scar tissue from overuse of injectables!!. Many magazines have also covered this in detail in the past. Doping is a world wide problem, and its unlikely to stop any time soon, so some practioners have taken the view, better to put correct and safe (??) information out there in the market regarding usage and side effects, so people can make INFORMED decisions, and follow safe methods if they choose, rather than just overdosing and / or taking potentially harmfull drugs and seriously damaging their health. I dont agree with it and nor do many, but thats not the point. This information is readily available, if you feel like searching for it, but most people are lazy and its easy to just call someone up and away we go.In a way, I guess, Chunky simply fulfilled a need - he did not create the need - just filled it. ...............As I say, imparting the information is not illegal, however, unless there is a medical reason which can be proved, and you are a licensed practioner, dealing in, and /or selling the product, most certainly is.!! widget38946.4250347222
  11. I had a "think" about it at 5am, another at 5.30am, another at 6am, and I finally got up at 6.15am and went to work - 30 minutes late! ..............although I guess I should have after returning on monday from my trip to the land of "ice-cream,parma ham,red wine, the finest pastries and expresso" - Italy - I am feeling a bit sluggish and very lazy.
  12. ................it appears "I-shares" who would have taken over from PHONAK have withdrawn their offer to sponsorship and the team is now to be disbanded. Floyd,Floyd,Floyd, what have you done? I wonder what will happen to Mr Hunter...!!!
  13. Sorry, I forgot to mention, the Giro 2005 is a 4 dvd set, so its about R100 per dvd, if you wanna look at it like that.smileys/smiley4.gif
  14. One dvd you gotta have is the 2005 Giro. If that dont get you motivated, nothing will, it is absolutely superb!!, that finale is just the most exciting bit of cycling I have ever seen.smileys/smiley20.gifsmileys/smiley20.gif Personally I didnt enjoy "Overcoming" but I am not really interested in the back room business, to me it was a bit like Reality TV. Check out www.cyclesport.uk. they have a good selection and they deliver in two weeks max, you pay in pounds so expect to pay the equivalent of ABOUT R400.00 per dvd, but its hassle free and well worth it. You can also try www.cyclesport.com the USA based division, they are quite a bit cheaper in Rand terms, but they use a differant dvd format so you need to stipulate your format, they also dont take c/cards from SA due to the high c/card fraud here (you have to use "pay pal" or bank directly into their account which is a hassle). Unless you are an Armstrong fan I would skip the TDF dvds (to me they are nothing but LA promotional ads) and maybe look at the 2004 Giro - those shots of Cunego at his best will get you tighteining the resistance every two minutes.smileys/smiley4.gif Have fun.!
