  1. Bwahhh ha ha , he can sit at the rear of the pelaton.
  2. Thats why Im going old school XT hubs - they are only R400 on CRC(but hoping I can get something locally rather) as opposed to most decent Rear hubs being over a grand, Ill be converting this wheelset to tubeless as soon as I have a hub to put into it No rear hub No go, tubeless or not. Its not about weight saving at this stage. This is what Ive found on CRC: -Shimano XT Disc Hub Rear M756 32h Black 6-Bolt http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3987
  3. Not sure that would ever be a factor for me, once its on, it on. Comfort wise from what Ive tried on so far, the MET is hands down the most comfortable for me.
  4. Thats what Im talking about - A nice old school weapon - last used by the Knights of the Rountable
  5. Mmmm so very tempting , but unfortunatly just looking for a rear hub at the moment. Its for my wife bike, dont want to get to carried away just yet(havent finished doing up my hardtail yet, and only bought this bike on Sat for her)
  6. Is it still possible to get 6 bolt Shimano SLX or XT hubs, front & rear. I see CRC still have them, but hoping someone locally may still have old stock. I know that you can get the centre lock hubs, but dont want to go the conversion route(or is it ok) So Im hoping that somebody could please point me in the right direction with this. Or is there a pretty decent alternative for a Rear Hub.(ie not Shimano) Dont wanna spend too much Thanks
  7. Yeah, some guys are riding with guns. Cant remember on which thread or who it was on the hub, But guys are suggetsing that they are. I wouldnt say a shotgun though. The bike is insured, even still if a guy had a knife Im pretty confident I could get it off him. I do take your point though about it being worth the risk though. If he doesnt have a gun, I'll be fighting back. As for the lingo: gat - type of gun plugs - shoots lead - bullit

    Bosal Bike racks

Is anyone useing one of these? Are they all that they are cracked up to be? They seem to be way cheaper then the Thules from prices that Im seeing(what prices are they actually going for). Are they worth the money or do I rather save & wait to get a Thule? Second hand Thule's are still more expensive but are as rare as rocking horse shite
  9. I can definatly vouch for the use of Pepper Spray, Ive had to use it on a couple fellas that tried to run me off the road, sprayed it into their Bakkie cabin, lol. That will teach them.
  10. Yeah, I got one of the other brands for the wife. Will see how that one goes! You can squeeze the camelback one and squirt the liquid into your mouth is great. There is also there is a switch off valve mechanism thats also very handy, no leaking. Great things these
  11. Sooner or later an attack like this will end in tradgedy, either for the cyclist or the attacker. One of these perpetrators will get a nasty surprise when someone pulls out their gat and plugs him full of lead. From the sounds of it, there are a few riders already packing heat when they ride. Its really is so sad that we have had to resort to these kinds of measures to protect ourselves will doing a sport we all love (roadie or mtb). Unless the guy is carrying a gun, I aint giving my bike up. We all need to start doing something more about this, maybe organise a mass ride in show a stance or show of unity against not just attacks while we are riding, but also to hightlight the plight of cyclists on the roads(accidents). we all have a right to use the roads without the fear of attack and being killed. Try get Supercycling,Metro police, SAP, government officials whoever would listen really, on board if possible. Enough is enough I say
  12. Its Africa, play by their rules I say. I know its easier said then done somethimes. Theres got to be something done about this though. Makes me laugh tough when I read in the paper today that the police chief doesnt mind if the cops are corrupt.Whats that about??
  13. I say push him off the bike, and take it off him. 100% that bike is stolen, if there is 2 of you whats he gonna do, even 1 of you. Go report it stolen? Sick of this bollocks Someone worked hard for that, then for some twat to just come steal it.Grrrrrr, makes me mad.
  14. Bwah ha ha . Thats exaclty what I think happened to me yesterday, to cocky and got taught a valuable lesson Always good to have sound skills knowledge before hand, will definatly help with confidence. Thats terrible about the glandualr fever, not nice. I had it as a kid, messed me up for 8 months Just take it easy at first being back on the bike
  15. I cant believe already what a differance the wheels have made, went from some shitty Alex Rims to some Mavics, just need to change the rear hub. I just thought the GT is a better frame all round(also to do up), it also had a better front fork & hydraulic brakes. Slowly slowly ill make it a race machine(it will be more like what can I upgrade too and she gets hand me downs) Ive got her a SLX rear mech to change over too, and Ill be getting my XTR front mech next week, so she gets my SLX. I dont know whos more amped me or her
  16. Yeah, Holla trails is nice and flatish. So better to start learnig somewhere easy first. I was thinking of sending her to do a skills course, do you reckon they are a goood idea? I'll probably get too frustrated(she hates me telling her what to do when on the bike ), and woman listen to other woman better
  17. Why you say the bike? The geometry of the Silverback just wasnt right for her. It will almost resemble an avalanche 2.0 by next weekend from all the spare parts I've got. Nice one of getting on the bike(for a change)Why did you feel so strong, havent you had man flu?
  18. The wife got her new GT Avalnche 3.0 today, so takiing her to Holla trails, sore leg and all. Already swapped over her wheels for my old set - Dropped about a half kilo off the whole bike already, ha ha, what else can I change
  19. Must say, I got one and they work , I wouldnt say its freezing cold by the end of a three hour ride, but it was cool B) . It does help especially with your energy drink, beats having warm syrupy drink
  20. Terrible to hear to have to read another story like this , condolenses to the family. Its time to make a stand against the continual unnessesary deaths(can we all not get a massive ride on at the same time around the country as a stand of unity to bring more awareness to the situation ), the taxi driver needs to have the book thrown at him repeatedly, and put in jail for a long long time.
  21. Im just hoping these roasties stop weaping , so that I can ride tomorrow Not good, also right below the knee cap. Worst possible place
  22. nah, head took no impact at all . Going today too look and try on some more, seen as how I definatly wont be riding Also got to go with the wife to take delivery of her new bike. Its cold & raining in Durban today, dvd day for me
  23. Well up the complete right side of the body up to the arse, not on my actual arse. Knee took all the impact and just slid for ages. The bikes fine, thats all I care abou :rolleyes:t . I took the impact . I can only say I think because I could actually see for a change cause ive got me new riding glasses I was a bit too brave on the speed of the downhill, The track was like gravel, and just literally shredded me Stuff it two myprodol tonight, Im riding tomorrow.
  24. Would you really like to see my arse then? lol. Trust me on this one, its messy. Im hoping it will be ok for Sunday (hoping that is) with my knee shredded(this aint a graze) and swollen, it gonna be hard to peddle. Maybe I just need to "Harden the F"&k Up" Im more pissed I put holes in my bib shorts and almost grazed the tattoo on my calf off , the injuries will heal.
