  1. are you monitoring temperature and time? try grinding finer? the details are wherin the magic lives, I assure you!
  2. he he, told you so, you cannot compare immersion with drip through! The V60 looks so cool though. When I judge competitions, the competitors so often fall into the v60 trap, handicapping themselves unnecessarily.
  3. Depends on how you consider fragile. I have taken mine camping, 4x4 etc without bothering to protect it. Dropped them on the kitchen floor etc. My early ones (6-7 yearsold) previous material, show some plastic stress marks (no cracks as such, think more pre-crack marks if there is such a thing, and one broke a foot (still completely useable)) Current material, last four or so years, no sign of wear whatsoever. Thy DO NOT require careful use, although I would not recommend them as a ball replacement in contact sports or regular dropping onto concrete (why would you do that? ) In short, they can handle life, but probably not abuse... Does that help?
  4. done, valid 'til midnight
  5. ok, ok, an extra day going up now
  6. yes, those, mine have lasted 5 years (so far) I have 2 packs, and wash them once a day, I use them in rotation, on the theory that as they are cotton they should completely dry out before re-use (except in coffee emergencies) and so far that has worked. They have got browner over time and shrunk slightly...
  7. first off cloth filters, yes (use them 99% of the time at home and make at least 2 cups a day, every day. Re Grind. Start with a filter grind. go finer for more flavour, go courser if things start getting bitter.... (there is more to it than that, but start there!
  8. PS, what did go wrong?

  16. anyone want a discount voucher for an ABID posted here?
  17. and what @SimpleDom said
  18. First the similarities: Equally office friendly, Dishwasher safe (though no need to) The Advantages: Allows immersion brewing (the reason we love aeropress, the reason we hate Hario etc) Controlled brewing time, (without needing to adjust grind, pour or volume) Coffee tastes better, with almost no effort. My recipe, grind coffee, make a mud in bottom of ABID with a little 50c water, while reboiling kettle (let stand ~5mins) Add boiling (yes, boiling) water to required quantity, let stand EXACTLY 3 minutes Place over pre-heated cup (use the rest of that boiled water) Enjoy (typo Edit)
  19. try an ABID clever coffee dripper, seriously
  20. WhAT V12man said. Jura for locally available bean to cups. ITO quality service and value for money. Don't be mislead by a cheap purchase price. Look at total cost of ownership
  21. typo fixed (thanks) (bits got deleted somehow! only ourselves to blame) anyhow, the big advantage, and price justification, is the clever way it allows you to control the brew time, have a closer look? Coffee doesn't start pouring through until you place the dripper on a cup.
  22. the e-61 builds heat when standing. The second shot will be significantly sweeter- unless- temperature surf. Run water through the head while grinding. A lot of it, and temperature will stabilise
  23. what have you tried? try relatively fine (filter grind) 12g of coffee 3x coffee weight (36g) of 50c water, leave to stand for 5 minutes add as close to 100c (or boiling water for you high altitude cats) to make up to 250 g (add 214g) let stand for 3 minutes (yes, time it!) place ABID on pre heated cup (use that leftover boiling water while waiting your 3 minutes)
  24. have you seen the pointers on our website?
