Due to my dear wife's mishap on last weekends Trailseeker we've had to cancel our weekend. I have a 60 and a 30km entry available free gratis and vir niks drop me a PM if you're interested.

I'd like some input to the following scenario. I'm bombing downhill on a single track with a verge that is not rideable(at least safely) at say 35km/h and a faster rider comes up behind me. Now the only way to let the rider pass is to stop and pull off the track. I say to the rider that as soon as there is a chance I'll let him pass yet he gives me lip. Does etiquette suggest that I should simply stop and pull off the track? Would that not both slow him down even further and be dangerous to both of us?

The way I see it, the position that you arrive at the bottleneck is sort of where you are in the race, by pushing in front of those that got there before you means you're actually cheating to get ahead.

@Jcmeyer Thanks, she fell about 7 kms from the finish and as luck would have it I arrived within a minute of it happening. Getting her to hospital was all that mattered from there on and my race was done, so I missed all the bottlenecks at the river crossings. Reading this thread I did the best part of the race and missed the worst. He fully we'll bump into each other at the next race.

Forgot to add that training for Canoeing is well regulated as they are very strict on safety issues so you will need to do a number of proficiency tests, none to worry though most clubs will take you through it.

If it is canoeing you are enquiring about a boat would set you back about R5000 new (there are plenty 2nds available) paddle about R1500, life jacket R300, splashcover R400. As for access to water your best bet from a locality point of view would be to enquire at Dabulamanzi Canoe Club they're based at I think their time trials are on Thursdays nights. A fiberglass boat will last about 2 full racing seasons so it's quite e Hard on equipment. As for kayaking your boat costs are about R7-8k but your access to suitable rivers is a bit more complicated as our rivers are quite seasonal but fantastic when they are running full. Your best bet here would be to go on one of Robbie Herreveld's courses he operates out of Canoe & Kayak centre in Rivonia I think it's Wessel Road but look it up on the web.

I would just like to thank the medical support team and Marshalls for assisting my wife at about 7km from the end? Etienne and Schalkie you were great you will be pleased to hear that she her injury seems to be a dislocated elbow but we'll know for sure in a week's time. To the 70 km rider that fell at the same spot I hope finished. The Unitas emergency room had quite a mix of riders, a ruptured liver, a fractured cheekbone, a broken arm and a dislocated elbow from what I saw I hope you all are on the bike soon.

How do these integrate with the gripshift? There seems to be "toothed" fitting on the gripshift or do you just ignore these when fitting the grips and bar ends?

Thanks I take a look on the website. It seems almost a sin to cut the grip though.

I've just installed the new 3 x 10 grip shifts and I must say this is a very smooth system. The question I have is whether it is possible to add bar ends to this system, has anyone done this?

I'm intriqued as to the precedent that this ruling sets. Let's assume that all Lance's titles go to the second placed riders. All that is required to strip them of their tiltles would be for the ex teammates to say that they saw that second placed rider doping and that they are willing to testify as such. This could be a merry go round of note.

And if I recall correctly it is only Beloki and Kloden that have not been banned at some stage in their careers. What a mess!
