  1. Thanks Dangle, it will be interesting to swop notes here after the Sani2c on how they compare, as I think this might give the Notties a unique place on the calendar as the ultimate prep race for Sani. As a marker I really used this race as a training ride and I made sure my average heart rate was 10% below my normal race pace ( If I could call my crawl that). I did not feel fatiqued but I could feel the distance accumulating in my legs so it will be interesting to reflect on the Sani in this context once completed.
  2. Thanks Devlin that confirms my thinking. Now to get through the last 3 weeks of training.
  3. How would this route compare to day 2 of Sani2c in terms of toughness? Would it be correct to assume that if you finished this race comfortably that you would not have problems on Sani?
  4. I still don't get it, we rode on the tar later on so what gives? In the context of the race it really just createdunnecessary bottlenecks plus unfortunately for some less experienced riders a fall and race over. We might as well have hit the tar and got on with it IMHO. But I still would have enjoyed a few more technical challenges along the way although it might have made the day a lot longer than it already was!
  5. Tough ride, excellent prep for Sani2c and fantastic scenery but not the most spectacular race if you like technical stuff. I just wonder why they even bothered with that little bit of single track at the start.
  6. See all of you tomorrow for what looks like a long day on the bike for me, enjoy.
  7. Whaaaat, no 3 x 10? SRAM have lost the plot!
  8. I don't think anyone other than the route planner will have the profile as it is a new route. I recall the organizers hinting for a Garmin donation a while back so unless a good Samaritan has donated one I doubt whether they will have a profile for you. Previous events recorded about 700m of climbing for the 54kms on my Garmin.
  9. I have never tried Shimano so I can't compare directly. But I have noticed that it handles mud much better than other pedals, if this is important to you. As for the rebuild you can generally get away with just replacing the bearings the seals hardly ever go. As for the pedal disintergrating I have never had this happen to me .
  10. Dam reading this is just making me jealous. I'm stuck at an airport with a flight delay and the chances of me getting home in time for a ride tomorrow are fading fast. Enjoy your Easter Friday nonetheless.
  11. Gotta love the faithfull Ridgeback!

    Sappi Mankele

Had a tough but satisfying ride on Saturday. The mud / slush on the single track descent at 21km gave us a little taste of what the Epic must have been like on stage 5. I have great respect for the Epic riders that finished that stage must have been tough. Anyone know where the results for the Mankele are posted?
  13. Where's Fedgroup? Well done to the Lowveld boys of Westvaal-Columbia a top ten finish, impressive!
  14. Had a similar problem and replaced the bushes on the shock which sorted it out. Cost about R120.00.
  15. Really trying hard to be constructive here Bloohubs?
  16. Amen to that. Maybe we should post something on the Tshwane thread.
  17. So how many Hubbers were on Klapperkop this morning? At 7:00 it looked like Eloff St at peak time. With the Roadies, MTBikers, Runners, Walkers and picnickers all counted I guess close to 70 people over 4 km stretch. It's great to see the area being utilized by all.
  18. Ricky I had similar experience but only had to wait 3 days for the out of stock items to arrive after which they dispatched the order. I received it 8 days after order which ain't too bad.
