  1. Since the topic has slipped off the current Olympics, What about Tatiana Gregoryeva? The 'Aussie' pole vaulter that's now retired?
  2. Yes, why every four years? Why not every four weeks?
  3. I think she plays quite a starring role on the team...
  4. I sat at a table in a restaurant next to the Spanish female gymnastics team in Atlanta 1996. Their coach was ordering for them. He ordered nothing but salads for them and a real meal for himself. None of them were smiling. I felt awkward the whole time. Oh and at the same restaurant, Goran Ivanisevic was sitting near us. All seemed fine until he stood up and shouted at his waiter in broken English "This is shocking service! Do you want me to show you how to serve?" Okay, second one's not entirely true. He was at the same restaurant though. Sean Badenhorst2008-08-22 05:55:41
  5. Power-to-weight ratio is key in gymnastics. Younger girls have a higher power-to-weight ratio. Not that arbitrary, especially when you're the silver medallist... Same as doping really. It's dishonesty in sport.
  6. Will try get there with my boys. Please keep notices coming for future events.
  7. Have tried EVERYTHING. Have settled on Cadence Nutrition Pre: Prologue During: Revolution Post: Revive Made specifically for cycling and local so not too expensive. They also have a range of supplements for cyclists like Wattage Booster, Testosterone Support and Glutamine. www.cadencenutrition.co.za
  8. Beware, some nudity: http://www.playboy.de/menschen/prominente/olympia_sportlerinnen_2008
  9. Can i please throw Luke Watson with a naartjie? Don't you mean" Can i please frow Luke Watson wiff a naartjie? Oh, and who is Luke Watson, a ref?
  10. Oh. Thought it was something big.
  11. What rugby?
  12. What they're racing in Beijing is actually Supercross. Introduced in 2006 to make the Games racing more exciting - bigger everything compared to a normal BMX track. We have a round of the BMX Supercross World Cup in Pmb next year (track is purpose-built). Apparently no more than five South Africans can actually ride a Supercross track.
  13. They do race in the rain. The last leg of the 2008 nationals in Alberton was held in rain. But then that Alberton course has jumps about 1/3rd of the size of the beasts in Beijing. Same with the start ramp... Must be an international cautionary ruling.
  14. Women's MTB starts at 04h00 and the men's starts at 09h00 - SA time obviously. Probably going to be muddy, but if the rain stops at least the air will be clearer. Would hate for there to be a sprint crash because of smog...
  15. Maybe there are issues with equipment and/or officials being needed at both the BMX and MTB' date=' because when they moved the BMX to Friday they also moved the ladies MTB from Friday to Saturday.[/quote'] TV cameras I reckon. There are 17 at the BMX track...
  16. so thats a bronze then Hmmm. Must find a more reliable source. This is what I got on bmxsa.co.za Im sure its not what you guys want to hear but racing has been postponed today due to rain. So lets hope that rain stops and the track dries out in the next day, if it is not dry for tomorrow then positions will be decided on the times in the last quarter finals, if that happens the positions will be as follows 1. Jared Graves (AUS) 36.076 2. Mike Day (USA) 36.122 3. Marc Willers (NZL) 36.278 4. Donny Robinson (USA) 36.490 5. Sifiso Nhlapo (RSA) 36.507 In a sport where time is irrelevant, it's a bit ridiculous! Just asked Sifiso's manager what's the latest and he says all the riders want to race. Says after clearing a bit earlier, it has started raining steadily again! Says a final decision will only be taken tomorrow. Sean Badenhorst2008-08-21 07:11:48
  17. More chaos on the track. US women drop the baton in their 4x100m heat. All the medallist countries in the men's 4x100m from Athens are out! 6 of the 16 men's teams were DQed. If SA hadn't erred, we'd have had a shot at a medal!
  18. Think the name needs to be updated. BMX it was back in the 70s, but now it's changed. All the big berms are tarred now... I'm not sure why they don't have the track indoors. If a sport can be that affected by the weather, why have it outdoors? I expect that will be on the list of improvements for London 2012.
  19. Men's 800m: Malaudzi out in semis Women's 1500m: Kalmer out in heats Men's 4 x 100m Heat 1: After leading against the USA, we drop the baton at the final change over. But so did the USA! In fact only 4 of the 8 teams finished. Chaos! And apparently, if the BMX track isn't dry tomorrow, they go on points scored in the quarterfinals to determine the medals. Sifiso would be fifth... 20. That's exactly it! Would you buy one of these papers? No, of course not. The 'editorial' is there to separate the adverts which dominate these publications. Caxton is known for it's distribution network, not its quality journalism...
  21. Poor quality reporting. Very strong bias towards the injured rider's view. All the facts and both sides of the story are essential to create an objective article. Problem is that all the facts diminish the sensation factor...
  22. Yep, I remember them well. Hence my chirp.
  23. Thanks for the heads up. Glad your lady is okay. Her quick reaction probably saved her life!
  24. Oh no, not another batch!
