  1. It just keeps getting better - the damp weather is part of it but mostly its the repairs and tweaks here and there - well done guys!
  2. I was in for the Virb elite for the reasons given but then got a good deal on a Hero 3 Black and could not justify the extra R2 k for the Virb. So far pretty happy with the Go Pro. Overcast autumn days seem to be the best for filming - camera hardly has to adjust between shade and open areas and resolution does not suffer too much in poor light.
  3. I went with the stick on mounts. They seem very secure. For my open face helmet I attached a piece of old rear mudguard with cable ties in the top/middle of the helmet and stuck the mount onto that. Works perfectly.
  4. Mmm. Vintage vitriol from the lefty brand banger
  5. I am going to do a little movie like this of every trail at Tokai eventually. PoS - how about a video guide section on the Tokai website?
  6. windy and overcast day but made for good shadow free filming weather...
  7. Next Scott bikes will be banned on the trails that Spaz built Not a bad idea actually...
  8. Claims against Cape Pine are also highly unlikely from a legal standpoint so IMO the rationale for closure is illfounded
  9. Sam you are still not making sense...Its a petty turf war that only harms both brands involved and MTB Many of the trails had Spaz branding on the signs...
  10. Its not cool at all, but you are doing more to harm the big Spaz brand than any of the Scott freeloading is doing with stories like this How to win friends (MTBers) and influence people - not. Hows this headline - "Specialized mountain bikes behind Jonkershoek trail closure" That's great advertising.
  11. Frankly I cannot begin to fathom the small mindedness of this little dispute. Trailguy/OP - what is your name and why have you put this sensationalist, dare I say "nonsense" about Jonkers closing on a public forum like this? Surely the protagonists should be issuing statements or communicating transparently. Pathetic.
  12. Agree - BS has no name. This looks like more of a hand bag fight than Tokai - an imaginary one at that.
  13. Thanks guys. The stick on mounts have the super 3m tape. The problem is that neither my FF or Xc helmets are flat in the centre ie the mount has to be off to one side to be made to stick properly. Will this orientation affect the video much?
  14. I have just joined the ranks of Gopro owners - Hero 3 Black. A few questions for you avid POV movie makers - - what works best if you have one kind of mount, Helmet, Chest or bike eg handlebars? - Do those stick on mounts work ie stay stuck - the tape seems bomb proof but... - I have put one on my ff to test but dont want to lose the camera I am leaning towards helmet (half the price of a chest harness and less obtrusive) but I do like the behind the bars view the chest harness give... Any advice would be welcome

  16. Fab says - I am a month away from the crash now and time seems to help. I can spend more and more time on my feet and I am slowly stepping away from any surgeries. The human body is unreal. we can see every week with the therapy my back getting more straight... there is still a long way to go but the mental is strong and life too short to complain !!!
  17. That is a real bummer. Whats the news on Fabby B?
  18. Agree with the comments re the bent or broken goodie in the clutch itself. The cam/switch mounting bracket bends and cracks. Mine is on its way out. Its a bit flimsy IMO. In say 9th gear its very easy to overcome the clutch by tugging on the chain. Far harder to do if in first gear. I will take 2 links out and see what happens...
  19. I see the fastest flying frenchy Jerome Clementz is also injured. I caught a comment he made on FB about the unseen nature of the french enduro series course and that he was lying "only" fourth after day one and would battle to catch up. Then he crashed on day 2. Makes you realise that tricky unseen courses are a great leveller.
  20. I heard you are sour cos he roosted a lot of dirt in your face last time you rode...
  21. Not really - it was a bit damp at Tokai on Wednesday but not wet ie no mud or puddles. I did notice that a brand new chain with the packing lube on it didn't drop at all and that the drops this week were on a slightly dirtier chain than normal.
  22. http://forums.mtbr.com/drivetrain-shifters-derailleurs-cranks/shimano-m-786-xt-shadow-plus-clutch-lubrication-893724.html According to this, the grease is just any old stuff or Shimano hub grease as Porqui says, so that's not going to fix it I don't think. The clutch is not broken but feels less stiff when hand tested than it did initially. i'll check it out though and add grease if it looks dry as an experiment. Chain is as short as I think it can be without stressing the derailleur spring too much...
  23. I have complained before re dropped chains with my 1x10 set up. Its just got much worse which is strange because I rode and enduro without any problems last weekend. I have started thinking about other options - 1. a short cage Zee derailleur 2. Csixx direct mount chain guide and 3 - a clutch service. Apparently Shimano use a special friction grease in the clutch. All good options but in all three cases I cannot do anything yet becuase: The Zees are only due in in July Csixx has no stock with no ETA Shimano agents have no grease Do we live in a backwater or what? No wonder we go online. I can get a Zee here for less in a week from CRC. As for the grease - any ideas on a replacement product. I must admit I am dubious about this fix...
