  1. I have done a few tests with them yesterday playing around on different pressures repaeating the same segment, 1 tar and 1 singletrack, then copied all the data into chat gpt, and the outcome for the best climbing pressure for me was 1.4 rear and 1.2 front. I could definately also feel 1.4 rear is faster than 1.6 and 1.2. On downhills however and maybe it just me because i come from longer travel bikes in the past and also some enduro motorcycles way back, is the 1.4 still feel chattery and i get alot of harsh trail feedback in the rear at 1.4. But in the end my downhill times were also better with less"effort" Still playing around, propably not something to do 1.5 weeks before a race😬
  2. Hi everyone, Im testing out maxiss rekon race 2.4 wt tyres at the moment and need some recommendations from you guys. Terrain is for attekwas, epic, general trail riding, and all the normal western cape races. What i need to know after my first few rides at more or less 1.2bar front and 1.3 bar rear, i am 85kg riding a specialized epic 120mm travel. 1. Is everyone happy with 2.4 rear as it felt a bit slow. 2. What pressures do you ride them. i am surprise about how much grip they have for a semi slick.
  3. Also had the same issue on my first gx axs. Never store your bike without a battery or battery cover! Especially after washing your bike. During storage without it some moist goes into the pins and they corrode the tiny springs inside.
  4. Cadence woorks well but racepro simplify things alot in terms of bars and gels you carry with you etc.
  5. Currently using cadence trying to stay around 80g carbs an hour adding bars and gels to top up whats in my bottle. just trying to het more info/experienced inputs around 32gi race pro.
  6. Does anybody have any experience ont 32gi race pro withe the two bottle system?
  7. Hi guys. im looking for a spin bike that lets you adjust tension manually with buit in power meter. One that doesnt require electricity to function. Any ideas? 1 option is to just get a old school dumb trainer and put a power meter on my training bike or power peddles on a spin bike. im sure there is options but struggling to find any.
  8. If anyone needs a partner for the cape epic 2023 please contact me. 39 years old and fit enough to finish.
  9. Thanks, I try calibrating once a week. What gear should i calibrate in? And at what cadence? im following workouts from training peaks. garmin doesnt allow switching between erg and slope, also havnt find a option to use slope mode and follow a workout. Thats why i tried the tacx app to control the trainer at a set gradient and follow the workout on my garmin aswell as recording the data. slope mode feels easier also?
  10. Hi guys im using a tacx vortex. doing vo2 max intervals for instance, Using garmin in erg mode to control the trainer, i find that it only follows the middle of a prescribed zone. This causes lower ftp and very low vo2max. Today i did the same workout using my phone to control trainer in slope mode, only used garmin to record power,hr and cadence, got a better ftp, lower heart rate and vo2max went up. is this normal or coul it be faulty equipment or am i doing something wrong? i dont have a power meter so cannot compare wit anything else, it feels like a given whattage between slope and erg feels different but which one should i use?
  11. Hi all, Im currently in the market for a new set of carbon wheels for my epic evo. Current options are: Dark horse Csixx xcm 6 series Csixx xcm 9 series Vittoria reaction Zero two Nextie Etc... Dont know what else there is. Any suggestions, should i go 27/28/30mm inner width? Im planning to use it for mostly xc marathons like trailseekers/w2w etc. Im quite hard on the downhill side so need somethig that climbs fast but can also be trusted.
  12. 6% doesnt sound like a lot but certainly feels
  13. Ok but my logic tells me that say i keep my cadence in a specific gear the same, do i have to put down a lot more power on shorter cranks? Thats how it feels, just want to make sure im digging in the right place.
  14. I am willing to swop my nx 165 crank for a 175 crank as long as its dub
  15. Hi all, I recently statred to build a custom hardtail with some parts i had but added a few new parts here and there. Fitted a sram nx crank 165mm, diddnt know it was that short. Went for one or two rides and realised i need a lot of watts to turn the cranks. Ended up injuring my calve muscle. All my other bikes had 175 cranks with either 3/32/34 chainrings, this one a 36. Does crank arm length play such a big role?
  16. We have some very clever guys here!! Back to my question, will it make a difference or not? With some of the advice here i can just fit solid steel rims then i will be ok, as long as i loose weight and get fitter. Length and weight doesnt tell anything about bmi. Its like telling me a rugby prop must now weigh 60kg if starts cycling?? I came from 115kg, now 83 actually, i look like a skeleton keeping my bone structure into consideration.
  17. I know it would never be a xc bike but the neuron was deigned to fill the gap between xc and trail, it climbs very well but i want it better. Im gonna play around with tyres first,it came out with 2.3 forecasters and now i have 2.4 ardent and 2.4 aspen. Like i mentioned it deccents like a beast, i just want that little bit extra on the climbs. Considering going back to forecaster in front and rekon race rear. Lets see how it goes
  18. 173cm 85kgs
  19. funny thing i just picked up, the forecaster is lighter than the rekon race? Maybe forecaster front and rekon race back? Sounds good.
  20. Im also thinking of going to a rekon race 2.35 front and rear, just worrid about the grip and also if its going to be worth it instead of just replacing the ardent also with a aspen 2.4 in the front?
  21. exactly where my confusion kicks in, on my hard tail ive got the vittoria barzo/mezcal combo 2.35, i only use it on opengravel roads and it rolls fast but i dont like the compound, absolutely no grip in the single track. The ardent 2.4 grips very good up front but almost a 900g tyre, the aspen in the rear is ok but the size(2.4) for a rear confuses me about the high volume tyre thing. People like Nino shurter swears by the aspen front and rear. Maybe im just running the wrong pressures?
  22. Hi Guys, Currently running 2.4 ardent up front and 2.4 aspen in the rear. I want something faster going uphill but still need some cornering grip.to enjoy the downhills. Any suggestions?
  23. How did you get to 12kg thats very light and all i want
  24. In its class, compared to a giant trance, merida 120, stumpjumper st etc it was definately the lightes bike, ive changed the tyres to vittoria barzos and had 1 or 2 face plants,no back to maxiss ardent 2.4 up front and 2.4 aspen in the rear. All my mates ride the new titans an epics so im left behind alot but only on the climbs. Im now the fittest ive been in years and the lightest that i ever will be so im at that point where i cant blame myself alot anymore.
  25. I have the cf 8 2020, great bike but when im going uphill im getting behind and think weight is the big thing, i dont have a budget at the moment but considering talking to my bank manager
