  1. Hi. I did source an Ultegra which is now on the bike, but would like to fix this one for a spare. Thanks though.
  2. Hi. I am looking for a spring for down shifting like the one in the picture. I managed to get this broken one out and is confident to replace it myself. Problem is I don't see this part listed on the Simano website. Would this be available somewhere or should I advertise to get a second hand one to strip
  3. Thanks guys. Definitely not the cable. From the video I can see that it must be the spring on top that is not moving the little arm back
  4. Hi. My right hand STI stopped shifting down gears. The problem seems to be that the "arm" inside the STI does not return when I shift up so there is no "clicking" when you want to shift down. If I manually move it backwards, then I can shift down. Could it be that the spring is broken. I have cleaned everything properly, so it is not that. 20231203_155341.mp4
  5. Thanks everyone for the advice. Definitely a problem with the shock as it defaults to the closed position and cannot click into any of the other positions. It is constantly under spring load. I'm unfortunately quite far away from all who offered help and will have to take it to my LBS. As a first resort, I always try to fix myself, but are not familiar with suspensions
  6. Yes, it does not make sense. Hard to explain. According to the manual you press the silver selector all the way so that it is in the open position, then thread the cable through, pull tight and secure the grub screw. If I do that I cannot move the selector to the locked position because it is already as far as it can go. As I mentioned, the shock cap is springloaded in the closed direction. It would have made sense if it was the other way around so that you can pull it to the closed position
  7. At the moment I have disconnected the cable. There is no lever on the cap to turn it to different positions. If I insert an allen key in the grub screw, I can force it under tension anti clock (open), but the moment I release the tension it spring loads back to the fully closed position. The fork is therefor by default in the closed position. The cable cannot push it to the open position as the tension is too much. It rather pushes the cable back into the selector, causing it to become slack.
  8. This shock has a remote CTD lockout. It worked perfectly until recently. Now the remote cable is pushed back into the lever, leaving the fork in the "locked" position. I tried to turn the blue cap on top of the shock anti clockwise to the un-lock position but it is spring loaded and just jumps back clockwise. Did something became unstuck inside the shock
  9. Don't want to ponder too much on this, but if you have an Afgri retailer (old ko-operasie) in your area, they sell a product called "Kleer 4007". It comes in a 5l container for R70. I dilute it to get 10l. I've been using it forever on all my bikes and everything else. The maid uses it for our clothes instead of Preen and it even works better. I also use it in my Parktool chain cleaner. For the rest of the bike I use a spray bottle. Frame, cassette, derailleurs, chain rings, etc. Quick brush off and everything is sparkling clean. Rinse with hose. Bounce the bike a few times and tilt onto back wheel to get water out of the frame. Wipe with cloth, leave it in the sun to dry properly and lube the chain.
  10. Does anyone know who is the local agent for Real Design rims. Got a set of Hyper Fly's (1365grms/set), but started to form cracks at the spoke ends. Had an accident some time ago and the back wheel was slightly damaged. Would like to have re-build to something similar (20/24 spokes). The newer version is called Ultra Sphere. Don't want something too heavy, as it is only used for racing. The local agent on their website is a person in Paarl, but he does not respond to e-mails.
  11. Thanks, maybe it is time to get ADSL. In the beginning it was super fast, but now it is more a frustration than anything else. It took me more an hour to compose the message!!

It starts of with a very good signal, but the download speed drops from 4-10kbps to 0bps and then stays there for a while. Ramps up again but drops to 0 within a few seconds. Is this due to bad reception. Then why does the signal shows to be strong.
  13. Take my advice. MyloCORT cream. You can get it without prescription. Works overnight.
  14. I took my bike there before the D2D as I had a problem with my FD/STI. The mechanics spend 30 minutes on trying to solve the problem. Andrew came there himself to assist, being very friendly and determined to solve the problem. He offered to send the STI to Shimano if the problem presists. So far it is working relatively OK. They did not charge me a cent. I will certainly take my bike back there if needed. I know you cannot expect personal service like that every time, but small gestures like that will certainly make me go back and support him. I ride in the same category as him, but no-where in the same class, so I respect him for his achievements and what he has done for cycling.
  15. Sorry, I don't read ALL the posts and only heard this week.
  16. Not sure if someone has already reported on this, was not sure if I should either, bacause of the remarks that will follow, but at least the problem was identified and rectified. So much for US and international standards. True Temper Sports Wolf SL Fork Voluntary Recall Cerv?lo has identified a potential safety issue involving the Wolf SL fork. This fork is designed and manufactured by True Temper Sports of Memphis, Tennessee, using a blade shape supplied by Cerv?lo. All other aspects of the structural design, development and manufacture were done by True Temper Sports. Under certain conditions, the fork steerer can crack and eventually break during normal use, which may cause the rider to lose control, fall and suffer potentially serious injuries. To date, there have been reports of injuries in the field resulting in minor abrasions and one broken wrist. Though the fork passes US and international standards, this particular problem was not uncovered during those standard tests and the fork only showed this weakness in the field, typically after being damaged. After much work, we did develop a new test protocol that was able to replicate the same failure mode as seen in the field. If the fork steerer is damaged by impact (eg. by a crash, a fall from a roof rack, or another impact) then the damage may progress very quickly during use to complete separation. We have seen that incidence of failure on this fork is higher than on other forks, and there is a potential for injury upon failure. True Temper Sports feels that the fork meets the industry standards and that the fork is therefore acceptable and no further action is required. Cerv?lo does not share this opinion and therefore, is proceeding with a recall of the True Temper designed and manufactured Wolf SL forks ourselves. True Temper Sports has declined to participate. In order to conduct a recall one must be able to demonstrate that any replacement product does not display the same failure mode. We have demonstrated to the authorities that the forks we will use as a replacement - the 3T Funda Pro and the Easton EC90 SLX - pass all standard industry tests as well as the new Cerv?lo test that the True Temper Wolf SL fork fails. We have obviously discontinued all use of the True Temper Wolf SL carbon bicycle fork. However, please note that this does not affect the Wolf CL and Wolf TT in any way, as both have a completely different structural design (and have passed the new Cerv?lo test protocol). Although it is not usual for a third party to recall a product manufactured by another company, we feel it is a necessary step to take care of our customer, and we will proceed with the full recall at no cost to the dealer or consumer.
  17. Price? Torgue range? Where can I collect?
  18. You can get loose gears, but the problem is that usually your bigger gears are clustered in groups of 2 or 3, which means that you must take out one of the smaller gears, that you don't want to do either. I've tried to do this with my 12-23 DA group for the Graskop and Jock races, but it did not feel right, so I used my son's 11-25 Ultegra group. Perfect if you have very steep climbs, but also long stretches of flats.
  19. If you have the second mount and it appears to be for the handlebar and not the stem, remember you can "twist" it to be the same as the other one. It might sound lobvious, but it was not for me when I looked at it for the 1st time.
  20. Can someone please tell me why I cannot reply to a message or type in a new message form my laptop at home. Currently doing this from work. The block that you get to type in and the cursor is absent. This is only happening for the past week or two and I've tried logging out and in as well as a system restore to a previous date, without success.
  21. Thanks, it is still a bit worrying, as I have never experienced this before. On a smooth road you don't hear anything, only on a rough surface or when I stand up. I bought the frame and fork on the hub and guess it ia about 4 years old. How often does it need a service?
  22. I started to pick up a very noisy cracking sound coming from the steering tube (Cane Creek headset). I removed the set of bearings and it shows a lot of play sideways. Is it suppose to be like that , or should it "feel" like a normal bearing? They also don't "spin" like a normal ball bearing.
  23. Westdene cycles re-built my Rolf Vector Comp back wheel. Very pleased.
  24. I have a set of these Alu wheels and initially thought they would not be very strong as they are quite light (1365g), but a few times now I've hit some serious potholes at speed, without any damage at all. I've not seen anyone else riding with them. Any experience with these?
  25. The fork was a bonus. Got the frame and fork for R2K. Transported from PE, delivered to my door for R300. Built the rest with "almost new"parts bought mainly on the hub. Total cost R7K. I took it for it's first ride this afternoon and I must say it is a much "softer" ride than the R3, so I might use it for some road training as well, especially with the bad roads we have.
