  1. I also thought we would get the aussie spec again; was a bit disappointed when I saw the blue international version.
  2. Not my 1st choice colour either, but that is what is on offer in SA for 2010. The 2010 Aussie version X2 looks much nicer to me (but has lower spec components than the international version).
  3. Again, that is the spec bars; I see no reason to spend money on changing it only for the looks.
  4. Yes, Giant bar ends; they are cheap and work for me; I need to change hand position often due to an old injury, so don't care what the big mouth or manfrog thinks. I am more of a practical kind of guy than a bling fan, which is why I think the white saddle is going to go too (although it does look nice). Was using the WTB saddle which came spec with my previous bike and was very comfortable on it. Might just keep it. LBS did offer a black Gobi as an exchange too...
  5. and bought the 2010 Anthem X2! LBS offered a good upgrade deal on the Shimano MT65 tubeless wheel set, but rest is standard spec. So here is my new ride, straight out of the shop. Still need to tweak the set up. Not sure if my bum is going to like that saddle (or how I am going to keep it looking nice and white while riding in the Stellenbosch mud). mountain_lion2009-10-20 16:55:41
  6. How about a photo of the subject under discussion for the rest of us who will not get to test ride her?
  7. Collected 2 bottles of gel from Dischem Somerset West today, but they did not have any flasks. Initial response was that they can't help it; "the courier" did not deliver any flasks. Eventually convinced them to give me 2 Hammer flasks instead. Now to see how this gel in a flask thing works on the bike...
  8. OK, but has anybody actually USED it?
  9. See this thread for approximate cost, more Tokenfreak jobs and contact details.
  10. Anybody tried the new Shimano tubeless wheel set yet? See Shimano and bikeradar websites. Any good? Comments?
  11. Oh, sounds like it is a standard crank if a crank puller will remove it.
  12. Dischem Somerset West phoned to say they got one 600ml gel bottle (pepto pro) for me from Paarl, but no flask?? How am I supposed to use it without a flask? Pornstar, do you still offer a free flask with a 600ml bottle or was that a limited time special? Just want to know if I should insist that Dischem get me a flask as well.
  13. If there is another bolt behind "allen-key screw cap" which can be seen through the "cap", then it is of the self extracting type If so, replace the "allen-key screw cap" and then undo the inner most allen screw. This will pull the crank off as you unscrew it.
  14. Pic of crank in question? Have you tried the SRAM website? They have detailed technical docs. e.g. http://www.sram.com/en/service/truvativ/view.php?catID=1&subcatID=5
  15. Dischem Somerset West had no stock of the 600ml gel bottles over the weekend, but said they would get from Paarl. All the gel sachets which they had in stock were still of the older style packaging.
  16. Approximate cost?
  17. A wheel is a ring, is it not??
  18. Married to a physio; Crazy sadists; all of them!
  19. Unfortunately not. The air sleeve has very little oil in - less than 5ml to start off with - and it is thickish and consumed quite quickly. Therefore' date=' if yours squirted, it indicates a thinner oil and more than 5ml. It can only come from one place - the damper leaked into the air chamber. Time for a full service.[/quote'] Thanks for the bad news JB; I thought this might be the case. Will get the LBS to send it in to the agents. Shock has been in use for one year since new. Will check Sporttracks for kms tonight. Checked my records: Bought the shock 2009-02-06 and did 1200km since then, which is not a lot. Is it normal to need a full service after 1200km ??

  21. My Fox RP23 is started to leak oil through the air valve when removing the shock pump. Releasing the air pressure by pressing in the valve pin produced a rather large squirt of oil. I hope this can be fixed with a air sleeve service or is a damper service also required?
  22. I think the problem is with the local agent, i.e. Avnic and how they are addressing the problems with the 305. Fortunately neither of the two units we use have presented any problems in 2+ years of use. Our units are "grey" imports; After receiving poor service from Avnic in 2004 when I had problems (also a known issue acknowledged by Garmin international) with my first Garmin GPS, none of my Garmin purchases have gone via Avnic. I don't own any of their (Garmap) maps either.
