  1. I heard the other day that moto-cross riders now put balls into the tyres, and this would then prevent it from going totally flat, when they get a puncture. I am curious to know whether it would also work in a tubeless mountain bike tyre when you get a flat, or will the tyre just come off. Has anybody tried it?
  2. Thats good news. The bike shops should also be smiling
  3. I have noticed that at some of the major races, fewer riders are taking part? Is it due to the costs involved to get there? Are race entry fees to high? Are people losing interest? Are there to many races on the calender? The economic situation in the country? Riders dont want to do the same race year after year? Are races not accessible to the majority of riders? ie distance to race. What can it be? Am I wrong with my assumption? At the Dirty Harry - 149 entrants in marathon and 168 in half marathon Oudtshoorn Chandelier: 70 entrants in marathon and 119 in half marathon 50 Miler: 128 entrants in marathon and 260 in half marathon We have seen the same thing happening here in the Border area this year. Is this also happening in the rest of the country?
  4. What is the max pressure you can inflate the RP2 rear shock too?
  5. Just dont get Sunringle Eq21 rims. Its a bastard to put certain Tubeless tyres on, if you converted the rim to tubeless ready. Kenda and Hutchinson's will not fit on it.
  6. I would replace it. Its a pain when your race is over due to a cut. The other option is to always take spare tube plus gator with you. Just remove all the thorns from the tyre first.
  7. In 2010, the Youth Olympics will be held in Singapore for boys and girls of ages 14-18. Only 2 cycling disciplines will feature, namely BMX and Cross-country mountain biking. I really hope that our officials will catch a wake-up and start to organise a "squad system" soon, to identify the boys and girls that will be taking part. It will be a flop if we only select a team 1 month before the event. Boys and girls of 12yrs and older, need to be identified now, and assisted with training programs and gear. A proper program and plan now, will ensure that we have many "Burry's" in the future. We also need to motivate all young "roadies" to try out mountain biking or bmx, if they would like to be part of this event. http://www.sgyoutholympics.com/ official website The Vision The vision of the Youth Olympic Games is to inspire young peoplearound the world to participate in sport and adopt and live by the Olympic values. It was during its session in Guatemala in July 2007 that the IOC decided to create a nw sporting event to educate, engage and influence young athletes inspiring them to play an active role in their communities. What are the YOG? The Youth Olympic Games are a sporting event for young people, balancing sport, education and culture. These Games work as a catalyst in these fields throughout the Olympic Movement. The YOG?s objectives are: 1. to bring together the world?s best young athletes and celebrate them 2. to offer a unique and powerful introduction to Olympism 3. to innovate in educating and debating Olympic values and challenges of society 4. to share and celebrate the cultures of the world in a festive atmosphere 5. to reach youth communities throughout the world to promote Olympic values 6. to raise sports awareness and participation among young people 7. to act as a platform for initiatives within the Olympic Movement 8. to be an event of the highest international sporting standard. Who? What? When? The Youth Olympic Games aim to bring together talented athletes ?aged from 14 to 18 - from around the world to participate in high-level competitions, but also, alongside the sports element of the event, to run educational programmes on the Olympic values, the benefits of sport for a healthy lifestyle, the social values sport can deliver and the dangers of doping and of training to excess and/or of inactivity. The first ever Summer Youth Olympic Games will bring together approximately 3,200 athletes and 800 officials in 2010. The sports programme will encompass all 26 sports on the programme of the 2012 Summer Games, with a limited number of disciplines and events. The first Winter Olympic Youth Games will bring together around 1,000 athletes and 500 officials. The athletes will compete ? for the first time in 2012 - in all seven Olympic Winter Sports. The YOG follow the traditional cycle of four years, with Summer Games in 2010, 2014, 2018, etc and Winter Games in 2012, 2016, 2020, etc. Singapore on track for first youth Olympics www.chinaview.cn http://imgs.xinhuanet.com/icon/2006english/2007korea/space.gif 2008-11-02 13:55:20 http://imgs.xinhuanet.com/icon/2006english/xiao.jpghttp://imgs.xinhuanet.com/icon/2006english/2007korea/space.gif http://imgs.xinhuanet.com/icon/2006english/da.jpghttp://imgs.xinhuanet.com/icon/2006english/2007korea/space.gif Print GENEVA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is impressed by the advanced preparation for the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, said an IOC member on Saturday. The IOC Coordination Commission of the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games just finished its first visit to host Singapore on Saturday, according to the press release from the IOC. "We are impressed with how the preparations have advanced. SYOGOC is very much on track," said Sergey Bubka, Chairman of the Coordination Commission, at the end of the visit. "We can count on the full support of the whole of Government and all Singaporeans, as well as on a highly dynamic team committed to serving our vision for these Games," concluded SYOGOC Chairman and IOC Executive Board member Ser Miang NG. The Coordination Commission visited various venues that will stage the 200 events in 26 sports. A master plan proposal for the venues for the 1st Youth Olympic Games was put forward by the Singaporean organizing committee for approval. The seven members of the Coordination Commission were highly impressed by the Youth Olympic Village based at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus. This site offers not only the capacity to host the 5,000 athletes and team officials expected to participate in the Games, but also training facilities for many sports and excellent facilities for the culture and education program. "We can return home with thefeeling that our partners in Singapore have well understood the mission entrusted to them, and that they can cope with the considerable time pressure," said Bubka. "We just have to keep up the same pace and vigilance for the remaining 22 months until the opening of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games."

  9. Sunringle equalizer 21 is extremely light, but it is virtually impossible to get a tubeless Hutchinson Python or Kenda Karma on it. The size of the rim is a problem.
  10. I tried both UST versions. Got a Larson TT non-tubeless to fit in the end. Its so tight that I inflated it with a footpump in 2 seconds
  11. Has anybody tried to fit tyres onto these rims? You need EPO before attempting it. Could not fit Hutchinson Pythons or Kenda Karma on it. Its to tight. martelpypie2008-11-14 13:28:58
  12. Its a very nice website where you can download a proper free computer program daily within 24 hrs, from when it appears on the site.. I have downloaded very useful utility programs there in the past. Worth checking it out daily to see what is listed for the day only. go to: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ martelpypie2008-11-12 13:21:45
  13. I like the site at http://www.wunderground.com/ just have to find your town or city. Gives complete info
  14. We have an annual 2-day stage race in Queenstown, and is not sure whether we must change it from the current 2-person team event to an individual 2-day event, or not. How do you feel about it? The prize money would be higher for the winners, if it is an individual event.
  15. Go to Chain reaction cycles for flood damaged items - road and mtb - they still guarantee quality. Unbelievable specials! XT 770 casettes from R290 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Offers.aspx?Offer=2&CurrentPageIndex=0
  16. Maybe group pics at prizegiving?
  17. You dont perhaps have pics of the winners in the 2 distances?
  18. I think what they should do, is to give the same prizes for males and females, but then add overall prizes for say the first 5 that finished. Azonic, you did very well! ; GT oke finished 5th in that race behind you.
  19. Brandon Steward won and Kevin Evans was second in the 85km Mondi Addo Mtb race today. Prize for first place was R15 000 and R5 000 for the "King of the Mountain" - which Kevin won. John-Lee finished 5 th - I heard he is actually taking a break from cycling currently. Was a great race with lots of everything that you wanted in a race. Best race we attended this year They should make it a Drifter next year as they had about 600 entrants - thats probably about 3x as many entrants compared to last weekends Drifter Race in Oudtshoorn.

  21. I see from the results of the Chandelier Drifter that only 60 riders finished in the long distance. What could have been the problem? Is this a new trend?
  22. Does anybody know where the results are posted for the Chandelier drifter this past weekend
