You can upgrade the wheels. I got the ZTR ArchEX wheels =1698g. A little bit heavier than Crest but you can punish them a little bit more. Also better if you are heavier than 85kg. BUT are you willing to spend more than R5000 to save 500g? I still got my Giant wheels, they are actually brilliant. They are also cheap on maintenance and converts well to tubeless. SLX is a brilliant groupset. Save your money for races and exploring.

Dont think this is all tik driven. People dont have jobs and some are just lazy. There is a market for these bikes and they know what to go for. Have not seen one cheap bike on The Hub that's been stolen.

Hate all this politics. All this comes back to money. Go and ride your bike and suck in the fresh air. Jonkers will always be there with or without the trails. Doing the contour roads for last 15years. Hikers and runners also enjoy the place. Always felt a little bit ripped off by the coffee shop.

I have spoken to the organiser and we will chat with the PPA and see if we can get a date that does not clash with the True Cape. Used to do True Cape myself and liked it. Sorry about the clash. Hope to see in Wellington next weekend.

We dont have a big sponser this year. Events is expensive to host. Marshalls, traffic officials, insurance, timing, tents, toilets, medals, etc. It all ads up. Then there is the risk of bad weather and 200 people arrived and you hoped for 400 just to cover your cost. You can pay R40 for a day permit to go do Welvanpas. Wvp has taken about 6 years to develop into some of the best singletrack around. A HUGE ammount of that funding came from Gravel Travel. Every year we build more singletrack and maintain the old routes. We dont have the same ammount of members as Jonkers or the Meerendal routes so we bargain on GT to supply the funds for NEW singletrack. We love it if you enjoy the routes and the race. Hopes this gives you moe insight. Hope to see you there. Hope we have perfect weather on race day.

You can enter on the day. Don't know anything of the Vineyard race. Is that the race at Lourensford? The 35km will take you to places in Wellington that will take your breath away. You need to be some kind of fit for it.
