  2. Hey WW, Where have you been hiding? After the road ride last Monday you have been scarce.
  3. The ride was great! Im gonna put the road bike together the weekend, then Im ready to join you on Monday on the road.
  4. Moreleta Park
  5. Hi Bergbok, My afternoon rides start in Moreleta Park then we head up Garsfontein Road till De Ville Bois.Hang a left there and go past the Golf Estate on the left till Atterbury then hang a left on Atterbury up to the first road where you can turn left (name escapes me). At the end of that road you branch off right and the road (Achillies I think) becomes a dirt road which runs through a few plots and past a Vineyard. After the vineyard there is a rather large hill which brings you to an intersection where you head off left. This road meets up with Lynnwood road where I hang a left on Lynnwood and travel back towards Hans Strijdom where I head up back left up to Moreleta.
  6. Great WW, I currently do my afternoon rides with Trelawney, but he is not too keen on the Morning thing. I think he is going soft.
  7. Come on guys, Its not so bad.... It lets you know you are alive.
  8. Hi Guys, I generally ride three afternoons a week, Mon, Wed and Thurs afternoons on my Mtb leaving at 16h00 and ride for approx 1h20 for a 29km route. However I find that I am not always able to get home in time from work to do this ride. I was wondering if there is anyone that would be interested / knows of people that ride in the morning from roughly 5am to 6h30am? I am mostly a Mtb'er but am willing to dust off the road bike.
  9. Hi Guys, I have never ordered from CRC before. Besides the obvious delivery fees what other expenses and fees do I need to consider? Thanks
  10. I also got awesome service there on Monday. I popped in after 5 just as the online guys were leaving and I asked them if someone could help me with a new BB as mine is finished. Without a hesitation off they went to get everything I needed and processed the transaction with a smile and all. Jhb bike shops can learn a thing or 6.
  11. Hi, Either on or off-road as long as I get to ride. I am close to the Engen Garage by Frans Conradie.
  12. Hi There, I am currently down here in B'fell on Business for two weeks and I brought my Mtb with. Can anyone suggest I round trip route from Old Oak road that would be safe for me to ride on my own? I am looking to ride about 1h30-2h00 per day. (Morning or afternoon)
  13. Hi All, I am going down to Cape Town on business for three full consecutive weeks and would like to know if anyone can suggest a Mtb route that I would be able to do on my own (either early morning or late afternoon) roughly 35km that is doable in about 2hrs? Thanks
  14. Hi guys, I'm based in Moreleta park and try ride Mon-thurs afternoons from 16:30. I do the gravel roads behind the Olympus plots +\- 28km at a medium pace (1h20 for the ride) there are usually two of us that ride but my partner can't always make it. I am looking to start an informal group as I am not mad on riding on my own. I am out of town till next weekend bit then back in full force in Feb.
  15. Well I have sent off my formal complaint, will be interesting to see what the response is/
  16. I am completely dumbfounded and disgusted in the way Kulula does business. I booked my ticket through Kulula.com (Run off of Comair)to travel to Mauritius as I was told that I had a bicycle limit of 20kg which fell into the sporting allowance category. I then phoned Kulula’s service centre on 13/12/2010 and spoke to a guy, he confirmed that the first 20kg’s of my bike would be free, and even went to the trouble of sending me a bit more info on packaging instructions. I left OR Tambo on Wednesday 15 December 2010 and was not charged a cent. However when I departed from Mauritius yesterday 29 December 2010 I was charged for the bicycle as I was now overweight. The Comair supervisor advised me that I would need to claim the charges back from the airline I made the booking through. I then contacted Kulula's contact centre this morning and spoke to a lady who told me that there is nothing she can do and it is the airports discretion to charge for extra baggage, and that the gentleman I spoke to previously from the call centre had given me the incorrect information. Furthermore as it was a British Airways flight the Kulula limits do not apply!!!!!!!!!!! Well then why did I bother with Kulula to start with? What horrified me more is that I was told I need to send a complaint to sort out this query??????? Surely then they should get rid of the contact centre and simply run a complaints centre.
  17. Hi Guys, Thanks for all the replies, my average long ride varies from 4.5 to 5.5hrs. I am tending to think that maybe the protein would be best then after my ride?
  18. Hi All, When out on longer rides I usually use USN Cyto power. I have been advised that I should add Whey protein to this mix as it increases the absorption rate and breakdown of the carbs in the energy drink. Any thoughts? And is it better to use Whey or pure protein?
  19. Heading out to Angola for two weeks on my own
  20. I managed to get a Mongoose Canaan Comp. It is fantastic specs for the price and exactly what I need as a beginner
  21. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Irene and <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Brooklyn branches on the top quality service I received this week.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I have been shopping around for the last month trying to decide on a"Bang for your Buck? bike. I then contacted the Irene Branch and spoke to a guy by the name of Ervin who kept me on the phone for half an hour explaining all the pro?s and cons of all my options. I was then referred to Temba at the Brooklyn branch as he had a few models on the floor which might be what I needed. To cut a long story short I found what I wanted and got fantastic service. What I appreciate the most is that no matter how stupid the question was that I asked, I never felt spoken down to (WHICH HAPPENS IN ALL OTHER CYCLE SHOPS!!!) or like an idiot. The guys only left the shop after 6 on a Friday and there was not 1 complaint from the staff. WELL DONE FRITZ PIENAAR CYCLES STAFF!!!!!WayneO2010-05-22 05:25:19
