  1. Has anyone used the Guardian Angel Pepper gel yet? Any feedback, and maybe a comparison to current pepper sprays in the market. http://peppergun.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/guardian_angel_ii_w.jpg
  2. I often ride through from Pta to go support the shop as they are always the most friendly when it comes to "Silly Questions" WELL DONE!!!!!
  3. Awesome thanks
  4. Hi guys, Has anyone bought one of those platform BNB bike racks from Makro for R1799? http://www.makro.co.za/p/7003/bnb-explorer-ball-bicycle-rack-with-lights/ How does it work, have you had any problems?
  5. Awesome, maybe drop off a copy at the Business on the hill?
  6. You guys all okay?
  7. Awesome thanks for all the great tips
  8. Probably an odd question, but what is the best way to wash your helmets straps cause no matter how hard I try my straps are filthy and always look starched. This has made my heet flippen uncomfortable
  9. Well depending on where in Pta East, I ride up Hans Strijdom up and over the N1 till "van Ryneveld" road (By MacDonalds) there you turn left and head through Pierre van Ryneveld till Nelmapius. Turn right and Follow Nelmapius all the way through to the Vehicle testing Station, at that traffic light turn left (towards Midstream), at the Midstream traffic lights turn right and head past Heritage Hill / Shoprite distribution centre till you get to Old Jhb Road. Turn left on Old Jhb Road and "Bob's your Uncle" Have fun!
  10. I have just finished moving over my components from a 26er to a 29er and yes the things i needed to replace were: - New BB as the new frame is a Press Fit - Longer gear cables - New Front der as new frame was a top pull - Obvious (wheels, fork and bearings) What I do however find frustrating is my gear ratio's are killing me, I moved a triple 22,32,44 front Crank and I am finding it very difficult especially uphills so Im considering either replacing the two top rings with a 26,38 or perhaps even replacing the whole crank with a double crank at a later stage.
  11. Awesome, off shopping tomorrow
  12. Rob please tell me where you got those awesome cups from?
  13. I have a question one step further. How should one train for a stage race, e.g. How much time vs how many km's? I want to start riding stage races next year, but my family time only allows 3 mornings a week (approx 29 km route each day) and then a 90km ride on a Sat morning. I assume that wont cut it?
  14. Where do you find them at that price?
  15. I have always ridden racing Ralph on the front and Race King on the back and I have run UST. My question though: is the UST really worth the extra weight?
  16. Hey Dexter, How do you find the Suntour? I'm looking at building up a 29er using that shock. Any complaints? Thanks
  17. Sondela is a slight way out but have great trails and awesome camping facilities
  18. So I got one of those Kids trailers that attach to the back of my bike, my twin girls are just loving riding around the neighborhood. Is there any safe places in the PTA / Jhb area where I can take them off road (Jeeptrack of course). I considered Groenkloof, but the weekend warriors ride a bit 'MAL'?
  19. Had a Polar 725x for 4 years and I had endless crap with average HR's of 250, and could not get an answer from Polar. Had my 500 now for a year and not 1 days crap. I got mine on www.easybike.co.za last year at an incredible price.
  20. Hi Guys, My 2 cents worth. I belong to our local neighbourhood sector policing, as a result you buy yourself a two-way radio that is programmed into a specific frequency on a certain channel, while out on a patrol if you suspect anything strange you radio it in and within 2 min you have back-up in whatever form (Safety in numbers) in addition there is a control room that monitors traffic (pensioner) who contacts the cops in the event of a legit problem. Maybe we could start something like that for the Groenkloof fraternity (maybe even biking fraternity in General). Groenies can buy a couple of Radio's which can be rented out at a nominal fee that runs on a frequency that they monitor as well as repeats on all the other radios, that way when an SOS call comes through all riders close by can race to assist (Safety in numbers again)? Another option is riders can buy their own radios if they so choose and just pay a small fee to have a specific channel programmed to Groennies, Klappies, etc? Im sure a more technically minded radio person could work through the in's and out's Anyway that is my thought.
  21. Thanks doppelganger! The place looks great. Have you maybe ridden in the area?
  22. Hi all, I'm off to Louis Trichardt for business next week and was wondering if anyone knew of a route that would be safe for me to do on my own in the morning +- 30 km. In addition does anyone know of a good place to stay? Thanks
  23. Hi All, I will be heading down to Bloem for two weeks in Feb, and I was hoping that someone maybe had a Garmin file for a 30km route for weekdays (preferably leaving from Grey Kollege Area) and then a 70km reoute for the weekend also leaving from that area? Thanks
  24. Hi All, I am heading down to Natal on Business for three weeks and was hoping someone could give an idea of a safe route I would be able to do on my own either in the early mornings or evenings? I will probably stay in the Amanzimtoti area? And does anyone know of accommodation where they are not sticky about you bringing your bike along? Thanks
