  1. Anyone used this and what was your experience?
  2. I hear a mix of regular Stan's and Stan's Race lasts longest.
  3. @Lynskey I'm a medium.
  4. Hey guys, I'm looking for some suggestions for a bike frame, or potentially if someone has one. I've got some ideas for a flatbar gravel build with low travel. Here's what I have in mind: Hardtail frame (2.25-2.35 tyres) Tufo XC13 wheels Decentish wheels - Might consider custom hope pro 4s 60mm to 80mm travel Shimano MT201 brakes 40T chainring (frame permitting) Shimano Cassette (46-51T) XT derailleur Essentially what i want is a fast and light, low travel hardtail that can comfortable for gravel and fast / flat XC . Rear suspension requires maintenance and chain rings can be changed to accommodate.
  5. Anyone used these before? Are they any good? https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-strongarm-sl-104bcd-crankset/
  6. Probably a prayer time. Respect it I think.
  7. Looking for an axle, hub assembly, extra spokes in case they break and a good rim that I can use. In the process of repairing one that's been damaged. DM me if needed.
  8. I am keen for this @Bicycle Yard Zarras WESTERN CAPE Will reach out to you.
  9. Guys, where can I get spare parts for a Mavic CS29SSMAX rim? I got a set that looks like they can be repaired but don't really have parts freely available. I reached out to Mavic and will update if I get any answers but would love to know if you lot know someone with potential parts.
  10. How does the Mezcal handle things? I can get one but I opted for a Tufo XC13 instead after my Tufo XC11 had a blowout with something sharp at Alberts Farm.
  11. Gravel bike. Looking at 38mm tyres. Panaracers possibly. Lots of spares to go onboard, 50 to 60km per day over 10 or so days.
  12. I am looking to do JHB to Maphutho. Any tips you wise lot can offer?
  13. Not today, yesterday. Very nice start to the year
  14. Hey. I'll get pics for you. Reply sent.
  15. I have some old XT brake levers if you guys want. Pics on request - just have to pull them out.
  16. In my opinion very nice if you are going for a slightly bigger chainring. I've spoken to a few people who run 34T with 11-51 or 11-50. I run a 38T and do basic trails. No issues so far. I'd say keep your old chainring and crank. My current crank on my hardtail was a conversion of a 2x to 1x with an external BB. You can change back if you want.
  17. Update on this: Got me set of Tufo XC11 and XC14s. Freaking amazing tyre. They roll so well and grip like they need to. The 38T handled Alberts well enough and I didn't really struggle. I'll test it out a bit and see if 34T is the way forward. It looks good too! 8c370669-a7d1-48fc-9b2f-6fc9ecea78f5.jfif
  18. Moving time. I had to this on the weekend. It was mostly fun because we had some beginners and crashes along the way.
  19. I'm avoiding Maxxis because their skinwalls are not that good compared to some of the other brands. I've seen some nasty stuff happen on those. Yea, I turned into one of those guys 🤣
  20. This is a setup that may work for me in terms of crank and the Tufos look like a solid option.
  21. Just following the general advice I've been given really. What do you run now?
  22. I asked my mate to keep it for me. 11s in the back and 14 in the front.
  23. Yea, granted. Given that the Sawtooths roll so smooth, I'm cautious to ask exact figures, just feel. The reason I am looking at Mezcals, is that they are used in big gravel races of 200kms and seem to hold up very well. As for chain length, the new chain will be a requirement if I go down to 34, but I already have a 32T length chain from when I got the bike. I cannot do oval because the cassette has a clutch, so it'll be round.
